Dexter Trailer Hubs and Drums - 8-258BTUC1

Trailer Hub Assembly

  • Capacity of 1,250 lbs per each
  • 6-1/2" Diameter Hub Flange, for use with 12" to 15" Wheels
  • Bolt Pattern: 5 on 4-1/2 (for information see below)
  • Bearings (L44643 Inner/Outer), Races, Cap (1.986"), and Seal (# 34823) Included
    • Inner bearing dimension is 1.00"
    • Inner seal dimension is 1.249"

Please Note: Some axles rated at 2,000 lbs require a different seal and bearings. Be sure that the bearings in the hub being replaced have L44643 stamped on them. If the bearings have L44649 stamped on them, use # 8-258-5UC1 trailer hub.

Note: Most trailer tires that are smaller than 15" and have 5 bolts, have a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern.

How to Measure Bolt Pattern

How to Measure Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number is the diameter of the circle the holes sit on. To determine the diameter on wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure center-to-center on bolt holes directly across from each other on the circle (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 would mean 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" center-to-center diameter). When the number of bolt holes is odd, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from it on the circle (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 would mean 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolts).

AND / OR

An alternative Way to Measure the Bolt Pattern

The distance between the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of the bolt hole right next to it will also help determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8" then the bolt pattern is a 5 on 4-1/2
  • If D = 2-3/4" then the bolt pattern is a 5 on 4-3/4
  • If D = 3" then the bolt pattern is a 5 on 5
  • If D = 3-1/4" then the bolt pattern is a 5 on 5-1/2

etrailer.com did a great job, I emailed a few questions and they answered quickly. I ordered the hub over the weekend receiving an email that they received the order and it was in process, The hub shipped quickly with an email notification and arrived the next day with a second email that the package was waiting in my garage. Everything fit great and the trailer is rolling real nice now.29163

Great service and product, everything exactly as advertised. The hubs are going to go on a BBQ grill that we are changing the wheel size from 8" to 15". It is unusual to find a company that provides the service and product quality level this company does, what a pleasure dealing with them.--Thank-you.28525

20/20 hindsight tells me I made a bad decision when I got a 20% discount on a display model utility trailer from a large "big box" hardware store here in the Seattle area. Many of the parts were assembled incorrectly, some of the hardware was missing, and they'd adjusted the wheel bearings too tightly which ended up frying one of them and the associated bearing races just during the trip home. The bearing races were integral with the hubs and weren't servicable, so the hub was ruined. And, unfortunately, I didn't end up using the trailer for quite a while and didn't notice all this until after well the warranty had expired. The trailer was manufactured by a Canadian company and they claimed that, due to US regulatory restrictions, they were currently unable to ship bearings or hubs to the United States. So much for our friends to the north. Fortunately, the trailer axle was American made, and etrailer.com was able to provide me with everything I needed to make the trailer roadworthy; with higher quality parts and at less cost. And the hubs had lugs, as opposed to the originals with just threaded holes; which makes installing the wheels much easier. What can I say? I'm now a fan of etrailer.com. 25203

Switched from a 4 lug rim to a 5 lug so I could run a larger tire, already had the rims but needed to change hubs. These hubs worker perfectly, they are of good quality and are well worth the price which is very reasonable. Order processing and shipment was very fast. I have no complains at all. Any parts I need in the future will be purchased from etrailer.com. Can't beat the service or product price. I highly recommend this retailer for your needs.10673

  • How To Determine The Correct Hub Assembly For A 1995 EZ-Loader Trailer
  • The easiest way to determine what hub assembly you will need for your axle is to get the part numbers of the inner and outer bearings and the grease seal part number from the hub assembly that is on the trailer now. If you do not have the old bearings, you will need to measure the spindle on your trailer to determine the size bearings that you will need, and what hub assembly will work. Trailer hub assemblies are not a universal fit. You will also want to check the hub journal length on an E-

Basically, tighten them until they stop turning then go another 1/4 turn. I pulled the part and there are no specifications on the hub or lug nuts themselves.
