Note: Most trailer tires that are smaller than 15" and have 5 bolts, have a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern.
How to Measure Bolt Pattern |
|
Determine the bolt pattern on the trailer wheel by the number of bolts and the bolt circle. To determine the bolt circle on wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure center-to-center on bolt holes directly across from each other on the diameter (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 would mean 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" center-to-center diameter). On odd number bolt wheels, measure any bolt hole center to the point halfway between bolt holes on the diameter (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 would mean 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolts).
|
AND / OR |
|
The distance between the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of the bolt hole right next to it will also help determine the bolt pattern.
- If D = 2-5/8" then the bolt pattern is a 5 on 4-1/2
- If D = 2-3/4" then the bolt pattern is a 5 on 4-3/4
- If D = 3" then the bolt pattern is a 5 on 5
- If D = 3-1/4" then the bolt pattern is a 5 on 5-1/2

Do you have a question about this Trailer Hubs and Drums?
- Do the Trailer Hubs Come Pre-Greased
- No, because the hub would need to be assembled and then disassembled for installation and the grease could attract dirt and grime during shipping, our hub and drum assemblies do not come pre-greased.
You will need to grease the bearings prior to installation. I would recommend using the Deluxe Bearing Packer, item # L70025, along with the Professional Pistol Grease Gun, item # L30416, and the Marine Trailer Wheel Bearing Grease, item # L11402. Marine grease is hydrophobic and will not break d

- Can Electric Trailer Brakes be Used with Hydraulic Brake Hub and Drums
- Some hub/drum assemblies can accept either electric or hydraulic brakes and some can only accept one or the other. It has to do with the amount of space inside the drum itself. The Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly, # 8-257-5UC3, is designed for electric brake assemblies. On many drums you can use either electric or hydraulic brakes.
Since you are switching over to electric brakes it would be best to also change the hub/drum assemblies to some that are made specifically for electric brake assembl
