Erikson Car Tie-Down with Axle Straps and Ratchet Review

Video Transcript for Erikson Car Tie-Down with Axle Straps and Ratchet Review

This is a ratchet strap with dimensions of 2 inches by 8 feet long and is rated for 5,000 pounds. This is intended for a car tie down with a built in axle strap. We will go ahead and show you how it works and how it actually attaches to your vehicle. We will begin with the actual axle strap itself. It has an extra sleeve on here for cushions, so in case you have a show car and you have a detailed under body, this will not scratch up your paint finish. And what it simply does, it just wraps around the axle or cross member and snaps over itself like so. The rest of the strap we have coiled up here, again you have 8 foot length. And the rest of that length will actually go to your ratchet here. To use this, your ratchet end will get tied down to the trailer and your strap will go through the slot here and that just pulls on through. Leave excess alone like that, then take your handle here, pull this lever back, and you ratchet it tight.

OK, we will go ahead and demonstrate this product, as you can see the padding goes around the axle itself and goes back on itself with this tie loop here. You can also vary the loop here as you need it, you can make it smaller or bigger, and we will leave it just like it is. Now we will run it over to our ratchet right here, and we just need to simply just put it through the center of the axle there and just pull out the excess length. Now, take your ratchet and lock it with that lever here, basically all you do is squeeze between these two points. And there you have it. Four more of those and your cars properly secured. There you have it for part # 78433, 2 inch by 8 foot long 5,000 lb flex car tie-down with a built-in axle strap from Erikson Manufacturing.

These straps apear well made and are a great price. They are NOT made in the USA. So we will see how they hold up. The idea of axle straps and tie downs in one is great. E trailer shipped real quick and were great to deal with. Thanks18849

Expert Answers about Car Tie-Down with Built-in Axle Strap, 2" x 8'5K with Ratchet - 78433 Do you have a question about this Trailer Cargo Control?

  • How Many Straps are Included in Erickson Car Tie-Down with Built-In Axle Strap Part 78433
  • Depending on the car and trailer, we always recommend a minimum of 3-4. Larger cars would be more secure with more anchoring points. Included in part # 78433 from Erickson, is one 2 inch by 8 foot strap with a built-in axle loop on the end. If it is a rear solid-axle vehicle, I would use two of these at the rear to secure the axle and rear wheels to the trailer. Then I would use a pair of part # 08519 for the front and attach the strap to a closed tow hook or use two straps like part # 585
