Leaving your trailer unattended and unlocked is basically asked for someone to steal it. Unfortunately, it's more common than most people think. If you're going to leave your trailer hooked up to your vehicle, unattended, I recommend purchasing this receiver and coupler lock set. You can lock your drawbar on to your receiver hitch and lock your trailer onto your drawbar. You can accomplish this and not have to use two different keys! Just one less for you to worry about.
