Today we are going to show you DeadBolt trailer hitch receiver lock for 1-1/4 trailer hitches, part number 7682. Here is our lock, on this end there is a cover that will protect our key slot. The lock itself threads into our hitch pin. So when you turn the key, you have to continue turning it so that the lock can thread off the end of the pin. Now we will go install it on our car. We will take our pin, feed it through the hitch and our ball mount. Then we will take our lock, put it over our pin and we will start turning our key clockwise this time, to thread the lock back on our hitch pin. Pull our key out and now our ball mount is secured inside our trailer hitch. Always make sure you have this cover on, especially in harsh weather because moisture and road salt will corrode the inside of your lock if you do not keep that cover on. And that does it for DeadBolt trailer hitch receiver lock, part number 7682.

Great service ... the young ladies whom I dealt with at Etrailer were courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable. After placing my initial order, I shortly recognized the advisability of adding a bolt-lock to the order (it WAS suggested to me by the young lady who first took my order but I declined it) --- I appreciated the effort Tamara in Customer Service put into modifying my order and still getting everything shipped the same day. The items arrived at my house in western New York State sooner than I expected. I was able to install the hitch to the underside of my 2007 Honda Fit with reasonable effort -- I am very satisfied with the hitch too. I haven't actually used the platform bike carrier yet but will do so in a few days and I think I will be pleased with it. I'm also glad I got the bolt-lock. 30432

Product is solid and made well however the diameter of the shaft which secures the ball bracket into the receiver is smaller than the Pin which came with my Curt trailer hitch assembly. This adds too much push /pull slop so I will only use it to secure the trailer when it is left unattended and use the Curt regular pin and carter key when towing. 29214

Although it appears it is built to last, it did not fit my Ford Escape's factory installed class 2 receiver; primarily it doesn't have an indent on the none locking side which kept the pin from being fully extended through the receiver which prevented the lock (screw) from engaging the threads on the pin.28872

  • The lock you were looking at, the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock - Flush Design for 1-1/4 inch Trailer Hitch, part # 7682, is made by CT Johnson, and is not a Draw-Tite lock. I can try to get you a replacement key, but I need to know which lock you have and the key number for the lock. The key number is always stamped on the key, and sometimes on the core of the lock. Can you check the lock core for that part number?

  • To determine the size of the Receiver lock you will need you need to determine the size (see link below) of the receiver on your vehicle and you also need to measure the overall width of the outside of the receiver at the hitch pin hole.   • We do not carry the key blanks for the CT Johnson DeadBolt locks, but I can do one better. Most of our customers want a replacement key. They have lost theirs or do not want to get a new key cut. So we do carry the recplacement key, part # CTJKEY. Simply enter the key number for the first key, and the number of keys you want and click add to cart.   • Over time, if the locking mechanism of a lock has not been operated, it can get stuck or seize. This is especially true if any of the internal components have any corrosion on them. What I recommend is to spray in a liberal amount of a penetrate and lubricant like WD-40 or PB Blaster. Let it work for about 15 minutes and then insert the key and try again.
