Today on this 2006 Acura MDX, we are going to install Draw-Tite hitch, part number 75599. This installation will also apply for the Hidden Hitch part number, 87454. We are underneath the vehicle, looking at the passenger side frame rail. I am going to go ahead and point out the mounting holes that we are going to be using to install the trailer hitch. As you can see here, we have three existing weld nuts here at the end of the frame, we will be using these three as our attaching points for our trailer hitch. :24
Into those weld nuts, we are going to be installing 12 millimeter bolts along with the conical tooth washers that are provided with our hitch installation kit. The weld nuts on this particular vehicle have a lot of corrosion built up on them, so we are going to need to clean them out before we get started. To do that we are going to use a spray lubricant, like a WD-40, and a wire brush to thoroughly clean those out. Moving over to the drivers side, we are going to be using the same three weld nuts, however you can see that on this side of the vehicle we have a tow hook that is installed. So, we will need to remove these three bolts first and remove the tow hook. :57
Since this side has bolts inside the weld nuts, they should be fairly clean still. However, if you are noticing corrosion, you may want to clean them out as well. Then we will also need to lower the exhaust off its hangers to make the hitch installation a little easier. We are going to need to go up and over the exhaust with the trailer hitch. Before we remove all the hangers we want to but a support strap across the exhaust tubes here at the forward side because, when we remove all the hangers the exhaust will want to sag down and could possibly become damaged. I am going to use a basic ratchet strap here, and hook it to the suspension components underneath the vehicle. To help remove the rubber hangers, I am going to use a spray lubricant again, like a WD-40, and just want to spray the studs down. Then you can take a pry bar and pry off the rubber hanger away from the stud. One last thing we need to do before we install our trailer hitch is to remove the fascia under covering her on this Acura MDX. 2004 and newer models will have this fascia underneath that needs to be removed. To remove the fascia covering we need to remove three push pins. One at the drivers side, one at the center, and one on the passenger side. As well as the four screws that are holding it in place. We will also need to remove the center holder as well, there is a bolt mounting it to the bottom of the bumper to that needs to be removed to accomplish this. 2:54
Now that we have the fascia cover removed we can put the hitch up in position. If you are having difficulty getting the hitch up and around the exhaust and the spare tire, you may need to lower the spare tire down. You may find that when you are putting the hitch up into position that you can not get it enough rear ward, that could be because of these fascia support brackets that are mounted on the driver and passenger sides. If that is the case, you can take them and bend them enough to get your bolts in, and then we can bend them back down into place once we get the hitch installed. Now that we have the bolts into place we can torque them down. You want to check with the directions to verify the appropriate torque rating for each individual bolt. With the bolts torqued down, we just want to go ahead and put our exhaust back u p on its hangers. You may be able to get two of the fascia fasteners back into place on the fascia support brackets by the push pins at the end to give it a little more security. Put the exhaust back in place as well as your spare tire if you lowered that and your installation will be complete. I am going to give you a couple of final dimensions that you may find useful in ing you hitch accessories. From the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground is going to be 17 inches. From the center of the pin hole to clear the rear edge of the bumper is approximately 5 inches. This will conclude the installation of Draw-Tite hitch part number 75599 on a 2006 Acura MDX.

Perfect fit, easy installation, great price I chose this product for my '07 Honda Pilot based on the customer reviews. I'm glad I did. The product arrived in a week in good shape, though the shipping box was partially ripped. Installation took about 30 minutes. I used two jack stands to keep it lifted, so I was able to install it easily by myself. It fits perfectly, and there was no issue with the heat shield. 2003 Honda Pilot. I had a problem with heavily corroded weld-nuts. Etrailer did a great job of following up, making suggestions, and forwarding me a link to the video on how to handle it. After some work and some PB Power Blaster, I got the weld nuts opened up. After that, the total installation (including light package) was about 45 minutes. It took me perhaps 20 minutes to install this on my 2005 Honda Pilot - and that was taking my time. I took the advice of other reviewers and sprayed the bolt holes with penetrating lubricant and used a wire brush to clean them out well before starting the installation, although they didn't seem to be in need of much cleaning. (For those in northern climates where road salts are used may find this step more critical.) Although the instructions suggested I would have to lower the muffler for the hitch installation, it was not necessary.78132

Installed on a 2002 Acura MDX just as the video shows. Easily lowered exhaust and the hitch went right on with no drama. I did use a jack to hold the driver's side end up while I installed the bolts on the right. Took about 45 minutes. The electrical wiring plugged right in and was done in less than 10 minutes.76001

I purchased this based on the other reviews regarding ease of installation. I have a 2005 Pilot and as others have noted the weld nuts on the passenger side were corroded. I was able to get one free with WD-40 and a nylon brush. If I were only as patient with the second one I probably would not have broken the wing nut from the frame. As a result I contacted etrailer and they sent a replacement bolt, net and leader. Once is cut off the bolt with a reciprocating (never used one before), I had to chisel the open in the frame to get the new bolt in and the plate. All of this I learned on the etrailer videos. I finished the installation today and could not have done it without the outstanding customer service and videos from etrailer. I would highly recommend buying from them as I have never received so much customer service from any other retailer. 74594

Put this hitch on a 2006 EX-L Honda Pilot. Took longer to put the Pilot on the two post car lift and get it in the air than to put the hitch on! I was on the drivers side and my 64 year old twin brother slid it past the muffler on the passenger side and into position. We did not lower the muffler or remove the little spare. I used the access holes under the trim piece to route the wire harness to its position next to the receiver - nothing exposed! Easy install.71376

I just worked a bolt in and out several times. The hitch fit nicely and I did not have to mess with the muffler. I did have my son in law help with the install. Good day, here has been my install adventure. The bolts (3) on the drivers side that hold the tow hook came off and we installed the hitch on that side with the bolts provided using an impact drill. Then we attempted to install the passenger side. Keep in mind I WD40'ed the holes and used a battery brush to scrap them out. One bolt (center) took perfectly. The foward bolt did not and the weld for that nut came off, so we have to tape and dye that out. The rear bolt would only sink halfway using a ratchet, not impact drill. I looked with a flashlight and it appears the "nut" side was not evenly bored out. I then used the bolt that we took off from the tow hook and got it to sink further, but not flush. I will likely add a washer or two so it sinks flush to the hitch. Hopefully we can use a smaller bolt for the forward hole and manually get a nut to attached to the bolt. At least I will have two blots on that side, which can support the bike rack. However, it does look great as you can only see the connecting section and not the hitch at all, like you do other aftermarket hitches. Only thing I forgot to order (which someone should have mentioned) is a hitch cover.67664

The Draw-Tite trailer hitch arrived promptly and was ready to install right out of the box. Once the bolt holes on the Honda Pilot were well cleaned and free of rust as described on the etrailer hitch installation video, I was able to install the product by myself laying on the ground in about 15 minutes. Wow! These folks are great at what they do! I had no idea what I was getting into with this project and their video showed exactly what I would have to do for installation. I wondered if my installation would go as well as the video and it did. Installation was very simple, they predicted 40 minutes for installation. I took 30 including clean up. So I save a bundle on installation and I got the hitch itself at a great price. The electrical was also a snap. Just found the tee connector where the instructions said it would be and plugged it in! Pat was very helpful in describing the differences in the hitch choices for my vehicle. Plus she got the ball rolling super quickly and got everything out the day I ordered it so it got here a full 2 days earlier than the estimated delivery date. Bottom line is this. I'm usually hesitant to buy universal parts online but the fit guide and install video were great. They gave me piece of mind so I pulled the trigger. The hitch arrived on time and the install went as planned. Just like the video. Took others advice and brushed out holes. Total install time was just under 30mins with the help of a hydraulic jack (had the jack handle positioned under the car so I could lay on my back, hold up one side of the hitch with one hand, and raise the jack using my other hand. I installed this hitch on A 2003 Honda Pilot. After removing the toe ring from the left frame I ran a tap into the bolt holes on the right frame to clean them up. I applied a lubricant in the holes and went to work. I set 2 jackstands under the vehicle and slid the hitch up on them and positioned it nearly perfwctly in place. i installed one bolt on each side finger tight to amke sure everything would line up. With that done and all the holes in the right places I installed the rest of the bolts and tightened everything in place. total time was about 40 minutes and I did it laying on the ground without a lift or an extra pair of hands. Very easy to do and it look great.39756

2007 Honda Pilot. Bought to hang a bike rack from the hitch. Easy installation. Upon installation I discovered the hitch did interfere with the spare tire (small spare tire). In order to get the hitch installed, I had to lower the spare then install the hitch. So my only choice after installation was to raise the spare back in to a storage position that is not as it was originally. It has to sit at an angle. It is not that big a deal though, at is it still tucked under there nice and snug.34453

The hitch has worked out very well. We were happy with the ease of installation and how it looked when it was finished. I require a trailer from time to time to transport heavy machinery. In the past I had rented a truck for transport. Because I will no longer need to rent a truck this hitch will pay for itself within a year.30032

Ordering was easy, shipping was fast, installation was exactly as shown on the video. Great buying experience, one of the few in which you get exactly what is promised. I will definately come back to etrailer when my next buying opertunity presents itself. Installation took about an hour, with most of the difficulty coming with the weld nuts on the passanger side. Road grime/rust collected in those holes and were tough, even though I sprayed WD-40 and ran a wire brush in and out a couple times. I ended up running bolts in, backing them out and spraying them with WD-40 and running them back in. After doing this several times on each hole they were all free enough I could tighten them with a ratchet before torquing them. My advise would be to do what others suggested and buy a cheap tap and run through them. 27827

Great service from etrailer.com - good communicati fast shipping, followup. Video instructions were easy to follow, except on 2001 MDX you don't have to remove the fascia fasteners. No need to lower or remove the spare tire. Hitch installed easily in about 1/2 hour - much easier with a helper! It fit perfectly and is unobtrusive. Looking forward to using it for a bike rack!27683

I bought this trailer hitch from etrailer after watching the installation video online. Installation was as-shown, although it definitely required a second pair of hands to hold the trailer in place while we were fitting the bolts. One note: When the video recommends using some lubricant to clean out any bolt holes that may have been exposed to the elements or rusted out - do it! :) Skipping that little step made the job take a little longer for us. All in all - I'm really pleased with the product, and felt really empowered being able to install the hitch myself.17916

The product arrived quickly, I was very impressed. Installation was easy, the videos helped a great deal, in particular the suggestion to clean out the holes with WD-40 and a wire brush. I was installing to an 8 year old Honda Pilot in Vermont. Let me tell you those holes needed some cleaning! The more I cleaned, the easier the bolts went in so don't hesitate to clean very thoroughly if you are installing to an older vehicle. In any event, I had a very positive experience. I purchased two hitch receivers. One for my Acura MDX and the other for my VW Sportwagen. After checking prices in the local area, I found etrailer.com where prices were lower than local suppliers AND shipping was free! Both receivers arrived today in good shape. Ordered the hitch, 2" ball/mount and wiring kit. Delivered fast, great customer service, and great directions. The longest part of the install was cleaning out the weld nuts to be able to get the new screws in. I was able to install alone, I used a 5 gallon paint bucket to hold one side of the hitch up while I bolted on the other side. The hitch looks great, very low profile, mostly concealed under the rear bumper. Highly recommended!12522

Arrived fast and in great condition. The instructional videos that are available online made installation easy as could be. It is a two person job (take note)--one to hole the piece in place, one to tighten the bolts. It's also easier if you have a socket wrench with extra long sockets so that you can get out of the way of various obstacle under the car. 6221

Great hidden hitch I installed this hitch on my 08 Honda Pilot. I wanted this model because the hitch crossmember is hidden behind the bumper and the only thing that you see from behind is the reciever for a clean look.
