Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.
Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.
In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Today working on a 2007 Ford Five Hundred, were going to install a Draw-Tite Hitch, part number 75299. This will also be comparable to Hidden Hitch, part number 87108. There are a couple of measurements that will assist you in selecting accessories for your new hitch such as a bike rack or a cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pinhole to the outermost point of your bumper is 4inches. From the top of the receiver tube to the ground is 12inches. Now lets go ahead with the installation.
Were going to need to lower the exhaust in order to install the hitch. Before I lower the exhaust, Im going to go ahead and put a safety strap under it so that we can control how far and fast the exhaust will fall. Now to lower the exhaust, well need to spray a lubricant on the rubber hangers to make it easier to remove and reinstall. Using a pry bar, we can simply push the rubber hanger off the metal hanger. With our exhaust lower, we need to remove a couple of components before we can put our hitch in place.
First in the driver side, we need to remove the two fasteners that hold on to the metal bracket for the exhaust hanger. On the passenger side, well need to lower the carbon canister to gain access to the passenger side frame rail. Its a total of four fasteners to be removed. With those fasteners removed, were just going to go ahead and remove the carbon canister out of our way. Here in the driver side, were going to take our fish wire or bolt leader.
Were going to feed it up into the frame. Were going to go through the side mounting hole and down to the access hole in the bottom of the frame. Then well take our 1inch by 2inch block slided onto the pole wire and then thread on our carriage bolt. Now were going to go ahead and feed both components up into the frame, but well not pull them in position until we get our hitch in place. As we put our hitch in place, well feed our pole wire through our attachment point.
Nows the good time to get an extra set of hands that will help you hold the hitch in place while you install your fasteners. On the driver side, well be using new 8mm nuts that come with our install kit and conical tooth washers with the teeth of the washer facing the hitch. To hold the driver side in place, Im going to go ahead and run these down to secure the driver side. With our two fasteners holding the driver side, Im now going to move over to the passenger side. Well use our self-threading bolt and conical tooth washer. Now back over on the driver side, we can go ahead and take our bolt leader and pull our fasteners into position then tighten it down with a conical tooth washer and nut. All right, with our fastener in position, Im going to go ahead and tighten it down. Now here on the driver side, what well need to do on the exhaust hanger, well need to cut off the hook that goes up into the frame as our hitch takes the place of the hole in the frame. What were going to do is take a grinder, our cut off wheel, and cut off the hook. Well remove the two fasteners and then go ahead and reinstall the exhaust hanger sandwiching the hitch between the exhaust hanger and the frame. Now because we have the rearmost fastener holding the driver side in place, well go ahead and remove the two lower frame rail or forward fastener. With all our fasteners tightened down for the hitch, well go ahead and torque the specifications as indicated in the instructions. With all of our fasteners tightened down for the hitch, well go ahead and reinstall the carbon canister. With the emissions canister reinstalled, well go ahead and reinstall our exhaust. And with our exhaust reinstalled, that completes the install of part number 75299 on our 2007 Ford Five Hundred.

Instructions were pretty good, but first timers should sit down with them for a while to avoid mistakes. Otherwise, the quality is great and everything lined up nicely during the install.28291

This was kind of cool. It went on exactly as the video showed. No surprises. Fit was great, took about an hour and looks great. This hitch does not stick out and give you something to smack your shins on. It blends nicely with the look of the Taurus.26038

So far a great product, I installed in about an hour. The instructions are ok not the greatest not the worst. The video on here made it easy as pie to do. Love the fitment of the hitch, no issues at all like you get alot of times with things welded together. It worked great. 25056

Box had minor damage which showed up on some scratches on the hitch itself, but nothing too terrible. Install was just as the video showed. I am not handy whatsoever, and I was able to do it in an afternoon. Definetely need help positioning the hitch when it comes time, but I was able to do it without propping the car up. Agree with other comments about the fishing bolts, it took time and patience. My biggest problem was reinstalling my catalytic converter; the video is correct in that these bolts are very touchy and will fall out to any amount of pressure. They are only held in by a flap of metal fit into a tight hole; make sure to hand tighten as much as possible to avoid my problem. Otherwise it worked great, installed easy, would recommend this to others. 15534

perfect fit! nice low profile I ordered this hitch for my 05 Freestyle. The hitch fits perfect and all holes aligned. I was able to install myself in about 2 hrs. Fishing the washer and bolt through drivers side frame was a little difficult and took me about 1 hour. I used a floor jack to position the hitch as I lifted the bar (fairly heavy) into place. A second set of hands would have cut my time. 765
