Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.
Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.
In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Before we begin our install, youll need to remove the spare tire for a little more working room. The installation is going to involve these three bolts on the side of the frame. Well need to remove the two rearmost ones while the third stays in place as were going to use it. Step one is to remove all the nuts from the three bolts. As you can see we removed the two nuts on the rearmost bolts and left the nut on the third, just finger tight it so the bolt cant come through. Now we can remove the two rearmost bolts, which you want to do on both sides. Once weve removed the bolts from the frame we want to replace them with the bolts provided with the hitch kit. You want to put a washer onto the bolt and feed it through the existing holes in the frame.
Once you have them in place, back them out until theyre even with this phalange here, because when we put the hitch up and theyre out any further, it will interfere with the hitch getting into place. We want to do the same for this one as well. Now that we have all the bolts in place, go ahead and remove the nut. Once weve put the new bolts in and pushed back the existing bolt, well put the half inch blocks onto each one of the fasteners here. The purpose is to fill up the space with the phalange here so the hitch can sit flat. Now we want the bolt to come just about flush with the spacer until we get the hitch into place, then we can push the bolts back through. Now that we have the bolts in place we get to put the hitch up into position. It might require two people to do so, its a fairly large hitch and its somewhat difficult to push the bolts through with just one person. Once we have the hitch up in position, we want to put the fasteners on. On the forward most existing bolt well use the existing nut to tighten it down. On the rearmost ones we want to use the fastener combination of the flat washer, lock washer, and nut. Well use the same combination for both sides. The final step is to torque the bolts down, the two rearmost get torqued to 75 foot pounds, and the third bolt is torqued to 148 foot pounds. This concludes the installation for hitch # 75292 on a 2006 Dodge Durango.
