Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.
Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.
In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Today we are going to install part number 65048, our front-mount hitch, and we are going to install this on a 1996 Jeep Wrangler. The next thing we will do is show you where the hitch resides on the front of the vehicle. Most of the time you expect it to sit on the bottom of here, but in the Jeep style, the way the frame is built, the actual hitch sits on top, and that is where it is going to ride. What is going to happen next is we are going to take out the hardware and use the existing bolt holes under the plastic tube. So we put our hitch on first and just lay it on the top as we trace around it. So that is where we are going to cut around the plastic and put it back on when we are done. This is going to be identical on both sides. So let us start disassembling and get the trim piece off.
All right, this is the threaded hole that we are going to use. It is a good idea to take some time and clean out the threads. This one has collected some rust and dust in it. Next, we are going to cut out our trim panel here. We will use a Dremel tool. Pull up all the melted stuff. Use a little piece of sandpaper to clean up the rough edges and you will be good to go. And just repeat it for the other side. And next we will install our hitch and start applying our hardware. After a couple of test fits and a little bit extra trimming, we can go ahead and install our trim panel back in.
The next thing we are going to do is install our hitch and start applying our hardware. All right, this spacer block, which keeps the surface flat - do this on both sides. And we will put our hitch on top. Now we will install our bolts. We have got our bolts snugged down, and we can go ahead and torque them down as specified in the instructions. All right, and with the bolts tightened down, that is all it takes to install part number 65048 from Draw-Tite on our 1996 Jeep Wrangler.

Front Drawtite hitch for Jeep Wrangler I ordered the Drawtite front hitch for my 1989 Jeep Wrangler and a hitch cover with a flag design. The product arrived promptly and the hitch went on quickly. The instructions provided by Drawtite were adequate, but the video posted by etrailer was excellent. I installed the hitch in about 30 minutes. The hitch cover was broken when I opened the box, but etrailer promptly sent out a replacement. I will definitely do business with etrailer again.4139
