Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.
Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.
In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Today we are going to install part number 65043 from Draw Tite and we are going to install this on a 2006 Ford F150. This will be a front mounted hitch. Our hitch will install on the inside of the frame. It will use existing holes that are in here. The holes that will be used in the frame will be the square hole here and this round hole up here, that is sometimes covered by this balance right here. We can start by actually holding up the hitch into position. This is a good one to have an extra set of hands for. It goes on the inside of the frame and there are 2 notches on there to keep it a little bit higher or a little bit lower depending on clearance with your bumper. It is a good idea to install your hitch as close as possible then install your hardware. In this case we have the hitch install in the lowest position. That should give you an idea of what kind of clearance you can expect. Once you have your bolts installed you can go ahead and install your hardware. You still want to leave it loose because you might have to move your hitch back and forth for the rest of the hardware.
Again we will install our hardware from the outside in to the square hole. Also this plate goes in between the hitch and the bolt. We can go ahead and put the rest of our hardware on there. Again just repeat the same thing for the other side. All that remains at this point is to tighten down all of our fasteners. Once you have them snugged down we will go ahead and give them their final torque. One other thought is if you want to put it up on the higher setting which would bring it up about another inch you can actually cut out the finishing here a little bit to give you a little more ground clearance. Obviously you can do something similar for the loops at the end. There you have it for our install of part number 65043 from Draw Tite.

When I got this, it had punched through the box and UPS had to repackage it. But the parts were tight around the receiver, and not affected. Plus the hitch is well constructed and suffered nada from the issue. Don't know if it affected anything near it. I was worried about it interfering with the OEM transmission cooler. But I shouldn't have. This really does fit the 2006 F150 FX4 Off Road model. I installed it myself. Left the wheels on the ground. I used a small hydraulic jack to lift the hitch into place. Hitch balanced nicely on it. I may yet cut the facia to raise it a bit, or get the skid plate insert for the receiver. Not sure. Found this video while looking to make sure of the torque needed for the final setting of the bolts. In fact, the only thing I would suggest is you include the torque setting in the writeup for the video. Also, make sure the bolts for the small square holes go in last. You need to be able to move the hitch a bit to line up the sleeves for the front holes. Once they are in, the rest is a piece of cake. I'm really happy to find this hitch. I had been told by a local dealer that installing a front hitch would require removal of the truck's OEM towing rings. Not so! This fits perfectly!22419

Hitch quality is very good, nice welds, nice paint, nice rounded receiver end and best of all it fit perfect on my 05 Ford F-150 4wd. I really like the fact that it has two height selections so I was able to tuck it up so only the very end of the receiver shows. Very easy to install, you don't have to take anything off or apart and you don't need a bunch of tools. To make your install a no pain deal use a floor jack to hold the hitch while you align the bolts and holes. If you don't have a torgue wrench then you need to get one, this is a place and time that it is needed.19549

Fit my F150 4x4 perfectly. I am using it for a front mount motorcycle carrier. The "low" mounting point is too low. I'd probaby catch something if driving on a rough road. Hard to torque the bolts unles you have a hoist or jack up the truck. My only complaint is that when mounted the recevier is not quite level. Not a big deal if you are just mounting a hitch ball. For a motorcycle carrier, I needed to modify the carrier to bring it closer to the vehicle. 7729

Fits like a glove, even a 75 year old man can install. You will need some "lift" help as noted in the instructions. 6252
