• For your 2001 Chevy Suburban the 4WD or the 2WD will not matter for the front hitch. The choice for your vehicle will be if it is the 1500 series or the 2500 series Suburban. If you have the 2001 Chevy Suburban 1500, the Draw-Tite Front Hitch, # 65023, will fit and the Curt Front Hitch, # 31302 will fit. • Is Underbody Trimming Required for Front Mount Trailer Hitch Installation on a 2005 Chevy Suburban
  
• For a 2005 Chevy Suburban 1500, nothing needs to be trimmed according to the installation instructions which I have linked for you for the Draw-Tite Front Hitch, # 65023. Model year 2006 and up do have to be trimmed but not the 2005.
