Pro Series 20 by 48 Folding Cargo Carrier Review

Video Transcript for Pro Series 20 by 48 Folding Cargo Carrier Review

Today we are going to show you the Pro Series 20 by 48 folding cargo carrier for 2 inch hitches, part number 6502. The carrier measures 13 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the carrier platform. When folded up, the distance measures 7-1/2 inches from the closest edge of the carrier to the hitch pin hole. The Pro Series 20 by 48 cargo carrier uses a step shank to add extra ground clearance behind the carrier. To utilize the folding feature remove the pin, tilt the carrier all of the way to the upright position and re the pin in the lower securing hole. The carrier is folded up and secure out of the way. The carrier is finished with a black powder coat paint. 0:44

There is a 3 inch tall lip that goes around the entire floor of the carrier. Along the lip are several predrilled mounting locations that you can use, as well as holes for license plate brackets if you need to move the license plate off your vehicle. Make sure that when you use your bungee cords to not attach them to the floor of the carrier itself. When you load the carrier, make sure you place the heavier items over the center of the carrier where the shank is and put your lighter items towards the outside. Today we are going to be using an elastic cargo net to secure our load on the cargo carrier. And there you have it for the Pro Series 20 by 48 folding cargo carrier, part number 6502.

Just received my cargo carrier yesterday. Unpacked it and it looks good. Received it when you said I would, held it up to my jeep and I think it is just what I wanted. I plan on using it to carry items to the Sierra Nevada Mountains which is near by and go 4-wheeling and camping. I have 2 grandaughters living with us and needed the space to carry cargo since my Wrangler dont have alot of room inside. Thanks for everything Bill B.14921

The cargo carrier attached easily. My only issue is that when tightened to the point there is no rattle to raise or lower the carrier floor the 3/4 bolt has to be loosened to align the hitch pin. Also the instruction enclosed was confusing and appeared incorrect. Your video showed the correct way to put it together. This is what I used.11920

Works with my spare tire I love this cargo carrier. The 13 inches is just enough clearance for the spare tire on my Jeep Wrangler. I was a bit worried about the back door clearing the rack, but found that if I remove the pin completely and let the carrier drop below its normal level, that I can also open the back door. In the regular flat position, the tire doesn't clear the lip of the rack. Works great if you don't mind undoing the pin to open the back door. I move mine around all the time. I recommend getting locking bolts to hold the license plate on so they don't rattle off. 2616

  • Recommendation for Securing a Cargo Carrier and Items On It to the Vehicle
  • You are correct the Draw-Tite Hitch Cargo Carrier, item # 6502, could be removed from the shank that installs in the receiver with the proper tools. The best method I know of the secure the carrier and the parts on it is to use the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock with Integrated 8 foot Cable by Master Lock, item # 1470DAT. This cable and hitch pin lock will secure the carrier shank in the hitch of the vehicle and the cable can be used to secure any items on the cargo carrier. If you already ha

  • Yes, the inside dimensions of the Draw-Tite Hitch Cargo Carrier, item # 6502, are 20 inches by 48 inches so as long as the box is not over 48 inches it will fit. • What Is Dimension Of Hitch Pin Hole to Closest Edge Of The Carrier On Draw-Tite Cargo Carrier, #6502
  • On the Draw-Tite Hitch Cargo Carrier, # 6502, has two different measurements, because the 13 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closet edge is measuring with the carrier down. So with the carrier down it is measuring to the side lip of the carrier. When the carrier is folded up you have the 3 inch tall lip of the carrier and the width of the shank (2-1/2 inches) on the bottom of the carrier going back towards the vehicle. So they are both correct measurements, one is for t

  • Can I Use 1 1/4 to 2 Inch Hitch Adapter With Draw-Tite 2 Inch Cargo Carrier # 6502
  • I cannot recommend using a 1-1/4 to 2 inch adapter with the Draw-Tite Hitch Cargo Carrier, because of the reduced weight capacity when using an adapter. When you use a hitch adapter, you reduce the tongue weight capacity of your hitch by half. The reason for this is that the cargo carrier will sit further out away from the vehicle putting more torque and stress on the hitch. This could potentially damage the hitch and/or the vehicle. I would recommend using the Draw-Tite Hitch Cargo Carrier,

  • Will Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Mount Cargo Carrier 6502 Clear the Spare Tire on a 2002 Jeep Wrangler
  • First, to determine what size hitch you have, measure the inside width of the receiver. If it is 1-1/4 inches, you have a Class I or II hitch. If it is 2 inches, you have a Class III or IV. To determine how much clearance an accessory will need to clear the spare tire on the 2002 Jeep Wrangler, measure from the center of the hitch pin hole back to the distance required to clear the spare tire.
