Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

• The Draw-Tite Front Mounted Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 65005 will fit your 1997 Silverado as long as it's a 1/2 ton model with the 6 lug wheels. It will not fit the 2500 and 3500 models with the 8 lug wheels. You will most likely have to remove the fascia to install the hitch. After it's installed, the fascia can be trimmed to allow the receiver to pass through it, and re-installed.
