5th Airborne Premium Fifth Wheel Coupler - Tube Style 12-1/2" Wide Air Ride

5th Airborne Premium Fifth Wheel Air-Ride Coupler by Fifth Gear gives you the smoothest ride possible by reducing shock in both the vertical and longitudinal directions. It will make your next getaway a breeze!

Your fifth-wheel takes a lot of abuse from turbulence caused by potholes, section dividers, bridge decks and heavily worn Interstate highways. The 5th Airborne premium fifth-wheel air-ride coupler acts as a buffer between the tow vehicle and the trailer, minimizing the challenges in the road. This significantly reduces the negative impact of vertical shock and longitudinal chucking. Forward and reverse jerking, called chucking, makes towing a fifth-wheel uncomfortable. As the truck hits a bump it slightly slows down, but the trailer doesn't slow down and causes the truck to jolt. Or the trailer hits a bump and jerks the truck forward and backwards. The 5th Airborne air spring and shock absorber cushions the impact on the truck and trailer making for a much more comfortable fifth-wheel towing experience.

  • Fifth Airborne replaces the existing king pin on the trailer and simply bolts to the RV camper pin box
  • Cushions shock with adjustable air spring and shock absorber
  • Air-spring can be custom tuned for optimal performance
  • Air-Ride features:
    • Reduces longitudinal shock (chucking) by nearly 60 percent

The 5th Airborne does more than improve the comfort of your ride; it protects your investments by relieving stress on your coach's frame, cabinets, mechanicals, and support mechanisms. Reduced vibration also saves your contents. Furniture, appliances, TVs, computers, dishes, glassware and other fragile items stay in their places. Drivers and passengers also benefit from reduced fatigue and the improved safety provided by the 5th Airborne's smooth ride.

The 5th Airborne premium fifth-wheel air-ride coupler was engineered and developed by long-time veterans of the towing industry. They put the product through grueling tests to measure its performance against the top two competing premium couplers on the market. The 5th Airborne coupler, with its innovative forward pivot design, out-performed both leading competitors. Test measurements were recorded in both the vertical (air-ride softening) and longitudinal (anti-chucking) direction. The documented results proved that the 5th Airborne performed significantly better in both orientations.

5th Airborne is designed to allow tuning of the air-spring, a feature that allows for adjustments to be made that will optimize the performance of each rig combination. The air-spring is enclosed within the coupler, providing protection from UV exposure and road hazards. The entire coupler is preassembled and designed for easy installation using existing holes when possible.

The 5th Airborne's pin box has built in friction sway control which also ensures less sway than a static pin box.

The streamlined, high-tech design of the 5th Airborne adds a touch of class to the otherwise mechanical-looking hitch. 5th Airborne is engineered with a 21K CSA rating and three-year warranty.

The picture shown is the actual picture, at this time I do not have a picture of the 5th Airborne mounted on an Atwood pin box. The positioning of the king pin may end up slightly forward allowing slightly better turning clearance but the position will not load the frame

  • Which 5th Airborne Air Ride for 2003 Montana Trailer
  • I spoke with my contact at Keystone, the manufacturer of the Montana Mountaineer trailers. Your pin box will have the model number stamped in the face of the pin box somewhere. It will not be on a tag or referenced as model number. You definitely want to be sure that you have the correct model number before you order. From the information I received your pin box can be one of two models (the possibility still exists that a different pin box could have been used). Usually they are Lippert boxes,
