Weight Distribution with Sway Control Installation - Video
Six points of friction control trailer sway. Four points of steel on steel friction are found in the weight distribution head while the two most important points of friction are found along the weight distribution spring bars. The spring bars are attached to the trailer frame with a hanger system that provides a platform for the spring bar to rest on. These large platforms are composed of an automotive friction material (as found in car brakes) which creates 10 times the amount of friction force as compared to steel on steel friction. When installed properly, the spring bars are constantly exerting force down on to the these platforms (This downward force is what distributes the weight). When the trailer comes out of a straight line for turns etc., the spring bars slide along the top of the large friction pad. Turns exert enough force to slide the spring bars over the friction pad, however, gusts of wind will have a much harder time. This system is topped in sway performance by only the Strait-Line System (66074).
- Features:
-
- 6-points of friction to control trailer sway
- 4 steel on steel points in the weight distribution head
- 2 large friction pads hang from trailer frame
- Automotive friction material provides consistent friction in all weather conditions
- Large friction pads make full contact with the spring bars which translates into a longer life and more consistent performance
- Serrated Washers make it easy to dial in the set-up of the weight distribution system
- Serrated washers help control the tilt or angle of the weight distribution head. Other styles of weight distribution use harder to access washers.
- Raised hitch ball platform eliminates the need the hitch balls with raised shanks
- No Drill clamp on brackets can be installed with in a wide range to accompany gas bottles, batteries, tool boxes etc. on the trailer tongue.
- Specs:
-
- Designed for Tongue Weights Between 600- 1,100 lbs.
- Maximum Towing Weight: 11,000 lbs.
- Hangers with friction pads clamp on to trailer frame without any drilling
- Hangers can be adjusted from 24" to 32" back from the center of the ball along the trailer frame.
- Adjustments can vary by weight rating
- Maximum trailer frame height: 6" tall
- Maximum trailer frame width: 2" wide
- If your trailer frame is less than 2" wide, spacers will need to be welded into place
- Works well on trailers with hydraulic (surge) brake actuators
- 5 year limited warranty
- Included Shank (# 63970) allows for a 1-1/4" Drop or a 6" Rise. Measures 13" long from pin hole to ball hole, 8" from pin hole to back of upright bar.
Note: Trailer Hitch Ball requires 1-1/4" Shank to maximize towing capacity.

Compared to the Competition:
If you are looking at the competition, remember this, 6 points of sway control, large automotive friction material pads which mean 10 times more friction than steel on steel, easy to adjust serrated washers control the tilt of the ball platform, and spring bars with more flex (means a smoother ride, better weight distribution performance on uneven roads and less wear and tear on the vehicle.).
