I purchased this adapter because I didn't have time to assemble one myself but it didn't work. It was not wired correctly! When I tried backing up with the electrical plug connected, it applied the brakes and wouldn't allow me to move the trailer without disconnecting the plug. Once I got the wires in the right place it worked fine. The wires are all a heavy guage and it has the rubber boot to cover the screws on the back side of the vehicle plug. Very pleased once we got the wires in the right place.12913

Basically they built what you could build yourself. You could buy the parts and take the time to build it but you would not save money or time or be able to build it any better. They only con would be the 7-way pin plug is bulky since it was intended for a vehicle application and to be bolted in. They used the best parts I have seen available and have a good build quality. Buy it if you need it, it's worth it!51669

Adapter was put together upside down! Had to rewire it to work, could have just made my own if I knew I was going to be like that in the first place! But was trying to save time. Ooo well live and learn.46087

Great idea! Adds flexibility to towing various trailers. The mechanics at work made their own for about the same price I paid, without spending the time for assembly.29881

  • What Will The Center Pin Function Be On Hopkins 7-Way Blade To Round Pin Adapter
  • Yes, the Adapter 7 Way (Blade) to 7 Way (Round Pin), will make the center pin the brake control function. Looking at the connector if it were mounted on the back of your vehicle, from the top 12 o clock position going clockwise would be the following, White for ground, Black for 12 volt power, Yellow for left brake and turn, Purple for reverse lights at the 6 o clock position, Green right brake and turn, Brown tail and running lights. I have linked pictures of the connector diagrams to s

  • Making a 7-Way to 9-Pole Trailer Adapter for a 1987 Avalon Trailer
  • What you can do is make an adapter to go from the 7-Way on your vehicle to the 9-Way used on the trailer. You will only need two parts and some wire. First, you will need a Pollak Black Plastic 7-Way, Trailer Side, # PK12706. Then you will need Pollak 9-Pole, Round Pin Trailer Socket - Vehicle End, # PK12907. Both of these parts are designed so that you can attach the wires yourself. If you open up each one, you will see a number and function description next to each pin. All you will need to

  • To go from a 6-Way round pin trailer connector on a vehicle to a 7-Way blade style connector on a trailer, you will need to use adapter # 47435. A 6-Way can be wired in 2 different ways, the brake out put could be the center pin or the 12 volt could be the center pin. You may need to re-pin the adapter to match your set up.

  • Adapter for Trailer with 7-Way Round Connector and 2012 Honda Ridgeline with 7-Way Blade Connector
  • It sounds like the connector on the boat is an adapted 4-Way to use with a 7-Way round pin trailer connector on a vehicle. That would be why there are just 4 pins, 3 for the lighting functions and 1 for ground. If that is the case then the 7-Way blade to 7-Way round adapter, # 47595 should work just fine. Most boat trailers have the basic lighting functions but do not have the components that require the other circuits such as 12 volt accessory power and electric brakes.

Another option would be to remove the 7-way round pin connector from your camper and replacing it with the Hopkins Endurance 7-Way Trailer Connect # HM48500. The mounting bracket, hardware, and grease packet are included and I have provided a link to the installation instructions for this product as well. This is a blade style connector so it will plug into the 7-way at the rear of your 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 that is 7 feet long and then you would use a Adapter 7 Way (Blade) to 7 Way (Round ) # 47595 that you referenced to convert it to the style connector you have on your trailer.

When you put current on each circuit you should be able to see what functions activate, which will tell you what does what. I would recommend you label each circuit
