Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 1999 Ford F250

Alright today we are going to install part number 41920 from Draw Tite. We are going to install this on a Ford F250 lite duty version pickup. The hitch will install in these pre existing holes in the frame here. There is also a bracket that needs to be installed at the end of the frame. That goes over the top of the rear set of holes, and there also has to be a hole inside of the bracket that needs to be drilled through the side of the frame. Our next step is going to be going ahead and temporarily bolting this bracket into place. We are going to just use existing hardware. That will just give us a guide for our drill bit to go on through. Okay we drilled out our pilot hole a 1/4 inch, then we will follow it up with a half inch bit. Now we are going to repeat everything for the other side.

Back here we are going to install our block and drop our hardware through and then we will go and repeat all the same steps on the passenger side. At this point we can go ahead and install the hitch. It is a good idea to have another set of hands because this is a real heavy piece of equipment. As you can see here we have the nuts started and holding the hitch up so it is totally secure. So at this point we can start snugging up the bolts. The bolts have a lock nut so it will be really hard to go and tighten them down. They will not just spin on. So it will just feel tight and keep spinning but at the same time when your done it will not come off ever. Once you get your bolts snugged, up make sure it gets centered the way you want it. Then go ahead and give the bolts their final torque. Finally we will do the bolts on the side of the frame that hold the bracketry to the end of the frame. That concludes our install of part number 41920 from Draw Tite on a 1999 Ford F250 lite duty.
