Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.
Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.
In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Today on this 2005 Chevrolet Express Van we are going to be installing Hidden Hitch part number 82580 and this installation will also apply for Draw-Tite hitch part number 41521. We are underneath the vehicle and we are looking at the driver side frame rail. We want to point out the mounting locations for the trailer hitch. The hitch is going to be using three holes in the frame rail that are existing. Two at the rear and one at the forward side. Into the two rear most holes we are going to be taking a carriage bolt and the 1-1/ 2 by 2 inch block and combining them and them inside the frame and them down through the hole. We will be doing the same for the forward most hole however at this attaching point we are going to be using a 1-1/2 by 3 inch block as opposed to the 1-1/ 2 by 2 inch block that we used at the two forward most attaching points. That set up is going to be the same for the passenger side as well. 00:52
Before I put all of the carriage bolts and blocks into position, check your frame rail. A lot of these vehicles have a lot of excess undercoating at the bottom of the frame rail. If that is the case you need to scrape that off first before you put your bolts and blocks into place and attach the trailer hitch to the frame. Into the two rear most holes we are going to be taking a carriage bolt and the 1-1/ 2 by 2 inch block and combine them. Now that we have got all of the hardware into place we can put the hitch up in position. We are going to be attaching the hitch to the bolts using the 1/ 2 inch conical tooth washer and hex nut. Now that we have got the hitch up into place we can torque our bolts down. We want to check with our directions to verify the appropriate torque rating for each of the bolts. With all of the bolts torqued down our installation is complete. This will conclude the installation of Hidden Hitch part number 82580 on a 2005 Chevrolet Express Van. From the ground to the top of the receiver tube opening is going to be 17-5/ 8 inches. From the center of the pin hole to clear the rear edge of the bumper is going to be approximately 4-1/ 2 inches.
