Today we are going to be installing hitch part number 41511 from Draw-Tite on a 1993 Chevy Suburban. Looking up under the vehicle now at the frame rail, we are going to go ahead and point out the attaching points for the hitch. As you can see, there are three existing holes at the bottom of the frame that we are going to use as the attaching points. We do need to enlarge these holes before we can put the hardware into place. See the one at the rearmost attaching point, we are going to need to enlarge to a half-inch, and the two forward ones are going to need to be enlarged to nine-sixteenths. So we are going to go ahead and do that now on both sides.
OK, with the holes drilled, we are going to go ahead and put the hardware into place. On the rearmost attaching point we can just set the hardware into place. On the forward-sided holes, we are actually going to have to fish wire the bolts through the framework here and into place. And we are going to use a bolt leader, which we do so here on our Web site. It makes things a lot easier to fish the bolts into place. The access point we are going to use is actually up over the crossmember here. There is a hole that I can fish this through. And with that in place, we can go ahead and put the bolt leader through the block and then wrap the threads of the bolt with the bolt leader. This will allow us to pull the bolt and block through the frame and into position. We are going to do that for both of the forward attachment points on both sides of the vehicle. One thing I do want to note here is that they do offer different blocks here in the hardware kit. You want to make sure you use the correct one in the appropriate positions. The ones on the forward side of the vehicle, you want to use the block with the hole offset to the side. That is going to allow this to not catch inside the frame when you lay it in there. The ones where the hole is actually offset toward the top, you want to put that one in this position here. OK, and again, we want to repeat that procedure for the passengers side, as well.
OK, with the bolts up into position, we can go ahead and put the hitch in place. And we are going to go ahead and use the fasteners that are provided in the kit to attach it. OK, with the hitch up into place, we are going to go ahead and hand tighten all the bolts down. And then after that we are going to go back through and torque them down. The bolts need to be torqued down to 107 foot-pounds. OK, with the bolts torqued down, the installation is complete. And this will conclude the installation of part number 41511 on a 1993 Chevy Suburban.
