Today we are going to install part number 36455, a Draw-Tite Class II receiver hitch, on a 2009 Chrysler Town and Country. This hitch is going to attach to the frame by using these bolts right here. So we will take these bolts out and they will be reused in the installation of the hitch. As you can see, on the passengers side the exhaust is blocking our access to these bolts. So we will need to get that out of the way. This is going to be the first of two exhaust hangers we are going to take down we will start taking this one off first. OK, we have got our exhaust down and out of the way. We actually put a little strap on it just to hold it out of the way so it is a little easier to see what is going on. When we undo the flash bolt right here, this is actually connected to a bracket inside the frame for the bumper, so this actual part of the bumper here - it is actually going to - when we let go of this bolt the bracket is going to tilt up inside the frame. So you want to take care when you take out the bolt to be careful you do not move the bracket around too much.
All right, at this point we can go ahead and install our hitch. Now, be careful when you install on the passengers side, there is an air conditioning line back here. You can flex it down just a little bit to get yourself a little bit more room to get it up in there. OK, we are leaving all these bolts loose because we will have to move the hitch around a little bit. You can see where our line was pretty close to the hitch. We can actually push it back up if you want to. OK, once you have got your hitch loosely installed, what you want to do next is go ahead and center the hitch. And what the instructions say is just go ahead and push it all the way over to the drivers side, and this part is actually touching the trunk pan. At this point we can go ahead and snug up the bolts. All right, and with the bolts snugged down, we can go ahead and properly torque them to the specified torque settings, as stated in the instructions. All right, with the hitch installed, we can go back to the exhaust and reinstall that. All right, one quick check of the exhaust to make sure it does not hit the hitch or anything, and you are good to go. And that finishes our install of part number 36455 from Draw-Tite.

Trailer hitch bolted up just fine. Installed it myself in just under an hour with hand tools, no air. Well, can't say I did it all by myself. My 5 year old daughter handed me the all the tools. : ) Thanks for the great product and the very fast shipping. 16244

I bought this for a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan (4.0 L engine) to use with a SportRack 2EZ bicycle rack. The installation was fairly easy and I was able to do it by myself. It might be helpful to know that you need 15mm and 18mm sockets to remove the hitch mounting bolts under the vehicle and a 13mm socket to remove the exhaust hanger bolt(s). I also found it necessary to remove the second exhaust hanger bolt in order to move the tailpipe out of the way of the hitch mounting bolts. Also be careful of the AC line that runs near the passenger side 18mm mounting bolt. 13264

I bought a trailer hitch from etrailer a few years back for my 2006 Pontiac Vibe. I was impressed enough that when I needed another hitch for a newer vehicle, I didn't hesitate, I went to etrailer again. The ease of installation for a custom fitted hitch is impressive. As for the wiring, I had always gone to the local automotive parts store and came out with a handful of individual parts. The sum of these individual parts would suffice for a wiring harness, but it was ad hoc at best. With this purchase I opted for the etrailer custom wiring harness. Even if you don't buy your trailer hitch from etrailer, get the custom fitted wiring harness. It is well worth the price. For those that feel "wiring challenged" they even have a video that shows how to install the harness. The local automotive parts store will miss me. Overall for the hitch and harness, good price, good materials, good construction, and good service. What more do you need? 6683
