Specs:

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.
Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.
In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

This hitch is also know as part number 36311 from Hidden Hitch and 06975 from Reese. This will cover the same applications. First thing we have to do is lower the passenger bracket take that off completely, and lower the carbon cannister out of the way. Also this bracket has to come down loose, it will get re-installed later. Next this bracket for here for the fascia support will have to come off, the hitch does provide support for the fascia when were done. Next we have to remove this tie down bracket, disconnect the exhaust from this bracket, and this bracket will be taken off the vehicle. Now we can install the hitch, its a good idea to have an extra set of hands at this point. As you can see, it takes a couple of hands to get the hitch up there. With a little bit of fidgeting, you can get it up there relatively easy. Theres just one thing you have to make sure of is that this bracket the hitch goes through and that its the hitch then the bracket, and then the frame itself, thats the order it goes in.
Now that we have our hitch loosely installed with a couple of bolts to make sure it doesnt fall, now we can put the rest of the bolts into the frame. Before you tighten up this side, you might want to do a test fit with the cannister to make sure everything goes back to where its supposed to and double check to see if the hoses in the back became disconnected. Occasionally they do, you just have to push them back in. Now we can tighten our bolts down to their final torque since we have the hitch lined up and the we know the carbon cannister will go back in place. Back to the carbon cannister, well put it back up in its final position and tighten it up. Now we can bolt this rubber exhaust hanger to the hitch, since the hitch replaces the hangar that came with the vehicle. Well do that then the other side. Its kind of hard to see but theres a cut out in the hitch here, where the muffler goes through and has plenty of room to wiggle back and forth as it needs to. One last final detail is to re-install the fascia on the tab in the hitch using the rivet that came with it. That covers it for our install on our 07 Subaru Forester, we used part # 90757 and these same steps apply to 06975 and 36311.

Item 36311 installed on 2006 Subaru Forester: Exc experience. Etrailer communications were frequent throughout the process. Product delivered in very resonable time and was packaged well. Installation was simplified due to the excellent instructional video on etrailer website. The only additional tool needed was a torque wrench - which can be had at your local Walmart for 30 bucks. Hitch looks marvelous and only the receiver mount is visible. Overall a very pleasant experience. Quality product and great service. Will definately do business with this company again - and will recommend to my friends!18762

The Draw-Tite hitch is robust, well designed, and easier to install than the one I purchased elsewhere for my previous Forester. The wiring harness was as easy as plugging in a mobile phone charger. It, too, seems very well made, with plenty of slack for adjusting the length of the harness for different length trailer harnesses. The purchase experience was quick and very easy! Thanks, etrailer!!17728

This product really is a 'hidden hitch'. It fits neatly under the forester with only the receiver showing. The entire process took about an hour on a 2002 S. The online video was very helpful and enabled my 14 year old son to do most of the work! 8967

Can't wait to tow something. Bought this for our 2006 Forester. Installation was a snap, took about 45 minutes (with air tools). Everything fit perfect. Also got the 4 pin wiring kit which was easy to install. Solidly built, nice looking and rated almost twice what the car is rated for so I'm looking forward to getting our tent trailer. Of course, now I have to learn how to back up a trailer...3536
