Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.
Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.
In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Today we are going to install part number 36136 on a 1991 Dodge Dynasty. Where the hitch installs on this vehicle, it will install on the two EA bolts right here - the Energy Absorber. The hitch will sit on top of this plate and get bolted back into place, and then it also will attach to one of these holes back behind the energy absorber, in the frame here. And we do the same thing on both sides. However, we will have to modify the exhaust lower, before we are all said and done, on the drivers side. And this is the exhaust bracket that we will have to lower and modify, but for now we will just go ahead and unbolt it into the frame plate here. And we will leave that there, that just like that, for now.
All right, next we will go ahead and install our bolts into this hole right here. And we will pull the hardware from this hole and we will pull it out back through here. So let us use our piece of safety wire. We will slide our plate inside and then we will thread our safety wire around our bolt here, and then up and back through. We do the same thing on the drivers side. All right, at this point we can start hanging the hitch on the frame. And this is kind of a wide hitch, so it is a good idea to have an extra set of hands with this one. When you do the drivers side, make sure you stick this block between the hitch and the frame. And the passengers side does not get the block. Okay, at this point we can reinstall the bolts that we took out earlier from the Energy Absorbers - put the hitch in position and reinstall the bolts. There we go. All right, once you have your bolts installed and snugged down, you can go ahead and give them a final torque. And torque specifications are noted on the instructions.
Next we will go ahead and install our bracket for the exhaust hanger. And basically, we will just set it next to the hitch here. We will mark our hole and then go ahead and drill it out to a 3/8 hole. Okay, we will go ahead and install our bracket now. Put in the bolt, install the bolt for the exhaust bracket. And at this point you can rearrange it a little bit just to make sure it stays away from the hitch itself. This is how the bracket is going to be installed once you tighten it down. Just make sure you have enough room to be away from the hitch here and also that you have plenty of clearance back behind by the axle, too, as the exhaust goes over it. All right, that covers our install of part number 36136, from Draw-Tite, on a 1991 Dodge Dynasty.
