Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.
Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.
In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Today on this 2007 Mazda 3 we are going to be installing Draw-Tite hitch part number 24816. Okay, we are underneath the vehicle. We are going to go ahead and point out the mounting locations for the trailer hitch. We have got multiple holes here in this bottom beam. The one just outboard of this fascia plan is one that we are going to be using. We are actually going to be enlarging this hole and this hole here. All four attaching points are going to need to be enlarged a 1/ 2 inch. And also on the inboard sides of the bumper brackets you can see we have also got two existing small holes here and depending on which model you have, 4-door or 5-door, you will need to enlarge one or the other.
This is the 5-door model so we are going to be enlarging the rear most hole here on both sides. Part number 6810. So the first step is to go ahead and enlarge all of those. It may be necessary to use a rotary broach drill bit. Start by feeding it through the bottom of the hole that we just drilled. And just feeding it all the way through to the end of the bumper here and we will take our series bolt and slide it on and wrap the thread with the bolt leader. Pull it through and down into place. We are going to do that first too with just the two with the bottom of the bumper and we will also fish through the bolts on the one side of the frame as well. All right now we have got the carriage bolts in place we can go ahead and put the hitch up into position.
Now we first need to go ahead and remove the fascia strap fasteners here. There is two of them. Okay, the hitch is actually going to go up behind that area there. And we are going to be attaching these carriage bolts with a conical tooth washer and nut. When fishing these bolts through, the opening is actually again right here at the end of the frame. And we are just going to do the same thing as we did on the other ones. We will feed the block on through the bolt leader and then wrap the threads through the carriage bolt and put those into place. And we will just add on the conical tooth washer and nut. All right, now that we have got all of the fasteners up into place we can go ahead and start torquing our bolts down. You want to check with your directions to verify the appropriate torque rating for each individual bolt. And now that we have got all of the bolts torqued down we just want to make sure we put our fasteners back into the bottom of the fascia. And that will conclude the installation of hitch part number 24816 on a 2007 Mazda 3.

Customer service was outstanding. They upgraded my shipping for free to make sure I got the hitch in time. Installation was not difficult, although our 1/2" drill bit got dull and stopped working. We eventually switched to a step bit (highly reccomended) and it went through in 2 seconds. They shipped 2 bolt fishing wires that I thought were one, so when I threaded it on the bolt it got stuck and didn't want to come off. Make sure you separate the fishing wires!16227

The bolts which attach on the side of the hitch are barely long enough with the provided washers. Otherwise installation was reasonably easy.23470

I purchased this for my Speed 3. It fits great on the car. Hidden would be an understatement. It is almost too hidden. If installing on a Speed 3 make sure you get a ball mount that is at least 9" from center of pin to center of ball hole. I got the 7 1/2" and the only way to get it to fit is to bend/compress the lower sill of the back bumper about an inch. I am going to have to return the mount and get the longer version. 21560

Great hitch I bought this hitch formy Mazda3. It took me one hour to install. I did find it a little hard to get the bolts into the holes the first time, but I got the hang of it by I started the second set of holes. It is easier if two people install, one person holding one end and one person holding the other. 3047

Ordered this for my 2006 Mazda 3 sedan and so far so good. Installation wasn't that bad - I picked up the best 1/2" drill bit I could from home depot (around $18) to bore out the holes and it worked great. The only thing is make sure you're wearing eye/ear/face protection because those little metal shavings get everywhere! Plus they're pretty hot too... That was pretty much the hardest part - using the fish wire to get the bolts thru was a little tricky but not too bad. So, pending delivery of the bike rack itself (it's taking a little longer than I was hoping...), I'm in pretty good shape and very excited to have this as opposed to the yakima king joe 2 I had before. Now I can use my trunk again! 14790

Side to side, the trailer hitch was not a perfect fit. There is a 1/8" gap on each side left.12178

The trailer hitch arrived in a timley manner (2 days). I have yet to install it, but I trust it will be as easy as the one I bought for my other Mazda. Yes that's right. I own 2 Mazda's and both have etrailer hitches. Great deal on both hitches. 10861

Good hitch, installation took me about 45 minutes with help from another person. I didn't jack it up or anything, which made it a little tricky to get the carriage bolts through the drilled holes. It's not very heavy, but its nice to have one person hold it up while another puts the bolts through with the fishwire.7990

Draw-Tite Hitch on Mazda3 The hitch installation was difficult and took 3 1/2 hours to complete. My vehicle was backed on to ramps in my driveway, which provided reasonable access to the work area. The major difficulty is getting the bolts "threaded" into position while holding the hitch in place. Another problem is the work space is very cramped, which makes it very hard to access the bolt locations after the hitch is in place. After much trial and error, I finally did get the job done, but after about 3 hours of work I was beginning to doubt if I was going to be able to complete it. If I can offer any recommendations, they are to get a helper and allow plenty of time for the installation.2154
