Today on this 2010 Honda Civic were going to install part number 24763 from Draw Tite. Alright this is what the hitch looks like when it is installed. Next well give you some dimensions that will help you out when choosing accessories. From top of receiver opening down to ground were looking at 11-3/4 inches, and from the center of the pin hitch hole to the outside edge of the bumper on this vehicle is going to be 2-1/2 inches. Now I will go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed. There is one hanger right above the tail pipe; well spray it down with some lubricant to make it a little easier to move.
Alright so we use a pry bar to move it off. Alright next we need to remove the heat shield right here. There are 4 bolts we have to remove, but it will go back up once we are done. Alright here is one last fastener right here we have to remove for the heat shield. The next step is to remove this plastic rib bit.
That will give us a little bit more working room when we install the hitch. Now I can start installing the hitch. What we will do first is attach the hitch to the tow loop. That will help hold it while we put the rest of the hardware in place. We will take our u-bolt and put it around the tow loop, and put the hitch up.
Alright now the hitch is going to line up with this existing hole right here in the frame, and well use this handle nut to put it on the inside and run our bolt into. Well have a conical tooth washer and a bolt going through the hitch, and to the handle nut. The drivers side is done, lets go ahead and repeat the same process over on the passengers side. Alright when you put the hitch up, make sure the hitch stays below the two hangers for the tail pipe so it will all go up like one assembly. With all the hardware installed lets go ahead and tighten down the bolts, and then tork them down as specified in the instructions.
Alright now I can go ahead and put the heat shield back into place. Okay our heat shield is in place, the last thing I do is reinstall the muffler onto the rubber hanger. And there you have it for part number 24763 from Draw Tite on a 2010 Honda Civic. .

Be sure to look at your car first and then the instructional video. I used the wrong one and it took me a little longer. It is pretty doable for somebody with no experience. You may need a second set of hands when trying to initially bolt the hitch.25269

I am reviewing the trailer hitch receiver AND the etrailer customer service. First off, the trailer hitch installation was straightforward, and the videos showed me exactly how to do it. I was able to install it myself, using my hydraulic jack at certain points to help me lift the hitch into position to bolt it in place. Please see the pics below. The customer service at etrailer is phenomenal! My order was upgraded to express shipping as a nice unexpected treat. I ordered the hitch receiver and also a bike rack. Both items arrived two business days later! However, there was a problem: the bike rack didn't have the included hardware kit (bolts, nuts, pins, etc.). Here's where I was impressed- etrailer reps immediately rush shipped me the missing hardware kit, and were absolutely pleasant on the phone and in emails. The hitch interfers a tiny bit at the point where the u-bolt goes. I purchased two hitches (both for 2011 Honda Civics) and we could have ground down the hitch a little to make a better fit. The interference kept the drivers side of the hitch from tightening up entirely flush to the frame. Perhaps an 1/8" more room to spare where the u-bolt attaches to the hook on the car would have made it perfect. First hitch took maybe an hour, the second hitch took 30 minutes. Not bad.12312

This hitch receiver looks good, and looks well designed, sturdy and unobtrusive. All the parts listed (and needed for the installation) were present and worked. I got the trailer hitch receiver professionally installed. Although that was the first time they had installed this kit on a 2009 Civic, and had not watched the video, the installation was straightforward and took less than 1/2 hour.9569

I ordered hitch and lighting harness on Monday. I figured with free shipping it might be here by the weekend. Boy was I surprised when it was at the door on Wednesday. During installation, I had a "brain fart" on the lighting harness. Customer service was very nice and assisted me with that. Easy installation & solid hold I installed it this weekend with a friend, we didn't even use a ramp to install it but I removed the back bumper because I was also changing some other parts. To ease the installation, after we undid the muffler and shields we attached the towing hook part to make manuvering easier first. We also didn't torque the bolts all the way until we got all of them in place. It fit very nicely and feels very solid. I'm not towing with it, but for a bike rack it feels very solid.3108

Simple Install & Solid With a couple of ramps it installed relatively easily, no cutting or drilling. Good instructions. Sure it was heavy (I'm 53 yrs), but then its going to be towing 2000 lbs. Pulled a 5 x 8 Uhaul fully loaded with a Civic 2006, and it was great. 2886

No reason to pay more This is the lowest-cost receiver hitch of those offered by etrailer.com. It does not come with a ball mount, but since I only intend to use this hitch for a bike rack, and not to tow, this was actually a benefit. Installation is very easy and I completed it in exactly an hour. Make sure, when installing, to put the muffler fittings above the hitch. It will be very crowded with the hitch raised into place, ready for final tightening, but there is room for normal sockets and extensions, and I used a torque wrench for the final tightening of all fittings. I found that one of the bolts for the exhaust heat shield will not go back with the hitch installed. I was concerned about noise from the shield hitting the hitch, but there is none, and I could get a longer bolt to eliminate any chance of noise. Overall, Draw-Tite makes a solid product, and I am satisfied with the fit and looks of this hitch on my Civic.2838

A good value, easy to install. I installed this hitch in about 30 minutes last summer. It took a minor bit of finagling to fit, but it is no problem if you just leave all of the bolts un-torqued until they are all connected and in place. I'd certainly recommend the product to the self-installer.1054

A good performing hitch... Good hitch, having a lift would have made the installation a lot easier. I managed the job alone and without raising the car, but it was a bit challenging. Took a couple hours.Once installed, I actually think the Civic looks beter with it!901
