Installation of Tow Ready Brake Controller Adapter
This adapter plugs into the connector beneath your vehicle's dashboard. To reach the connector, first locate the notch in the access panel in the center of the dash, near the passenger side. Using a trim panel puller, carefully pry the panel out and undo the locking tabs to remove the panel. You will find the mating connector behind this portion of you dashboard.
To install your electric brake controller you need to connect the four wires - ground, power, brake switch and brake power - of the controller to your vehicle. Certain manufacturers offer pre-wired options, typically known as tow packages, wherein these wires are run for you from the dash to the trailer connector on the back of your vehicle. Often, a brake controller wiring harness is included with your tow package. This harness plugs into a port beneath your dash and connects to the four wires of the brake controller. If you do not have a harness, or you need a new one, the Tow Ready wiring adapter will serve the same purpose.

- Where is the Factory Brake Controller Wiring Harness on the 2011 Ford E250
- It sounds like you may have found the wrong harness on your 2011 Ford E250 Van. I spoke with my contact at Tow Ready and he informed me that you will be looking for a port under the dash, near the top of the instrument cluster, on the back of a panel, it will be slightly to the right underneath the dash, to plug the Tekonsha Wire Replacement for Ford Super Duty Pickups, part # 3034-P into.
If you do not have a brake controller picked out already I would recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake

- Brake Controller Wiring Recommendation for Use on a 2009 Ford E-150 Van
- For your 2009 Ford E-150 Van you would want to use a Brake Controller Wiring Adapter, part # 3034-P, to install the Draw-Tite 2-4 Brake Electronic Brake Controller, part # 5100. This harness is an easier install compared to the # 20270 harness that you referenced.

- Location of Factory Trailer Brake Controller Port on a 2004 Ford F-250 Super Duty
- To access the correct port to insert # 3035-P, you may need to remove the dash panel on the driver side under the steering column. The connector you need will be on the far right, near the center console area. I have included a link to the instructions for reference and a link to a video showing installation on a similar truck. The video will give you the best idea of where to look for the connector and what it looks like so you will know it when you see it on your truck.

- Locating Stoplight Switch Wire When Installing Brake Controller
- The Red wire that comes out of the back of the brake controller should connect to the stoplight switch. This wire should only have power when the brake pedal is pressed.
You will want to use a circuit tester like part # 3808 to test for this wire. With the vehicle in park, parking brake engaged and key in the on position, have someone activate the brake pedal as you test for this wire. You will connect the Red wire to the wire that only has signal when the brake pedal is pressed.
