Today on this 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 we are going to install part number 20250 from Tow Ready. What the part number is is it replaces the 4-pole. We are going to use it to replace the very corroded Dodge factory connector. Basically we are going to start off by snipping off the old wires and starting fresh. Now this will almost match up color for color: green to green, yellow to yellow, brown to brown. However, the ground on the factory harness is going to be black. So that will go to white on our replacement part. 0:28

What is going to happen is we are going to strip our wires and install our butt connectors one by one. Alright, our ground wire is done. Now it will be color for color for the rest of them. With these special butt connectors we can apply heat to seal them up. Once everything is cooled off we will go ahead and tape everything up. Make everything nice and neat. Attach it to our hitch and we are finished. And there you have it for part number 20250 from Tow Ready.

You would not want to use part # 20250 to hardwire your vehicle, the wire leads are only 12 inches long as this part is intended as a replacement for a broken or damaged connector. Instead I would suggest using part # 18252. The wire leads are 72 inches long, it includes 4 Scotch-Lock connectors and a circuit tester to help you find what wires you need to tap into.
