Today on this 2011 Chevy Silverado were going to install the tow ready 5th wheel Gooseneck 7 way tow harness extension part number 20110. Before we can begin making any installations, we need to locate where we are going to mount our 7 pole connection in the bed. This will fit to the sheet metal of the bed and then make a connection with our wire. Were going to mount our 7 pole connector on this area here, so first what were going to use is a small drill bit, go ahead and make my hole and then check the area to make sure that I'm not going to run into any obstruction. Im just going to leave my drill bit sitting there so I can then look from underneath and verify that there are no obstructions and then well drill it out to our two inch hole. All right thats for double checking I know were good, so now we go ahead and drill out to our two inch hole.
Now, weve got our hole drilled out were going get underneath the truck, were going to run our wire up through our hole so then we can then make our connection. Then were also take the other end of our wire and make our connection with the vehicle. Before I make you to these connections though, Im going to take some black tape and wrap up these wires. Now, for the vehicle connection end, what were going to do is remove the 7 pole socket from the bumper connection. Pressing the locking tab, and just work it off.
Then what well do is take our new wiring connector and plug in line with the manufactures. While one connection that will make manufacturers side, our other connections will plug into the back of the 7 pole connector, well just pull the manufactures wiring out of. All right, now what we will do is route our wire over to our hole in the thick of that. Now its going that make our connection with our new wire and our new 7 pole connector. With our connection made, we can go ahead and mount it to the truck.
Well be using self-tapping screws. When routing your wire, be careful to stay away from many moving components such as steering or suspension or excessive heat such as exhaust. Once youve got it routed, well go ahead and secure it well just use some black zip ties and cut off the excess from the zip tie to give it a clean nice, neat, finish. And there you have it for the install of our tow ready 5th wheel and gooseneck 7 way tow Harness extension part number 20110.
