Today on this 2000 Ford F-250 Super Duty we are going to install part number 20031 from Tow Ready, this is their 7-way adapter upgrade harness. What this will do is upgrade this 4-pole harness that is on the back of the vehicle right now and run it up to the bed since this truck is going to be a dedicated gooseneck truck. We are going to peel back the bed liner to see where we can drill through the bed. It is a good idea to drill through one of these parts here that is raised so it has maximum room for the connector once it is installed in the bed. This one is a little close to the tie down assembly and this one has got a tint in it so we will go with the third one over and use that to drill into. 00:38

We are going to use a hole saw to make our cut through the bed liner and that will go through the sheet metal. We are going to take our wire harness and we are going to feed it on through. We will add the 7-pole connector to the wire harness, remove the gray lock, slide it on to the 7-pole until it snaps and then reinstall the lock. Then we can push everything in and we are going to use some regular sheet metal screws to attach it to the bed liner itself. We are going to be using a number 10 by one inch long sheet metal screw in self tapping and we will just get the 7-pole level and screw it in. This is what is left of the factory wiring harness and it has seen better days. We are going to get rid of it completely. This is our connection point and there is a latch on the one side that you push down on this tab and it should come apart. This wire is not going to be used anymore so cut it, get it out of the way and the new harness is simply going to plug back into the original spot so it snaps into position. At this point you can zip tie the wire harness out of the way. There are two holes right there I can use. The kit comes with a couple of fuses and relays which you may or may not need. Depending on the vehicle it might have these already installed. We will lift up the lid for the power distribution box and if you do not have them there is going to be a couple of open sockets, one is going to be for the brake controller feed which will be this one right here and you can use the 30 amp and the other open one is typically the 12 volt power supply going out back to the 7-pole connector. Again you want to verify these locations with the owners manual on the vehicle. Also the same thing applies to the relays. This is the location for a relay for a 12 volt power supply and lets pop the lid off and this slot right here is what controls the 12 volt so we will put a relay there and we will add the extra relay on to the other side of it and then put the lid back on. With that, that will finish it for part number 20031 from Tow Ready.
