Wesbar Wiring - 20016

The 5 way flat trailer connector is most commonly found on boat trailers that have hydraulic brakes. The fifth wire is hooked up to the reverse light circuit on the vehicle which then sends a signal to the hydraulic coupler to disengage the trailer brakes.

5-Flat electrical wiring connector

Fifth wire added for surge brake lockout circuit which is becoming more common on today's newer boat trailers.

5-Flat wiring Connector will still work with most 4-pole trailer connectors.

  • A link to the trailer wiring you are asking about is provided, just scroll down the page to select the connector you have on your vehicle and trailer. The wires on the 5 pole flat are as follows White/ground, Brown/taillights, Yellow/left turn and stop, Green/right turn and stop and Blue/reverse lockout. The brown will run to both sides of the trailer and the yellow and green will only go to the respective side they are needed on. The Blue wire goes to the electric lockout solenoid for the

  • Converting 2009 Toyota Tacoma Factory 4-Way Connector to a 5-Way Connector
  • The easiest thing to use would be adapter part # 20036. It provides the extra wire for reverse lights to be run separately from the vehicle 4-Way flat. You could also re-wire the current 4-Way connector with a new standard 5-Way using part # 20016. You could match the wires as they currently are, and run the blue wire to the reverse light cricuit and splice in using a Scotch-Lock connector, part # 564.

  • Installing 5 Way Connector for Reverse Trailer Brake Lockout on 2002 Escape w/Ground Side Switching
  • Your vehicle has a ground side switching reverse light circuit. You can use the 5-Flat Vehicle End 72 Wiring Harness, item # 20016, on your vehicle to install all of the connections from your original 4-Way connector and then wire the reverse light circuit. For your ground side switching reverse light circuit you will need a relay. These relays are called ISO relays and are available at your local auto parts dealer. The relay will have 5 terminals. One terminal on the relay will require a con

  • Installing a 5-Way Flat Trailer Connector on a 2005 Toyota Tacoma
  • The easiest thing to do would be to install Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118393, first. There is no splicing involved with this installation. The T-connectors plug in line with the tail light wiring. I have included a link to the installation details and a video showing a typical installation. After the harness is installed, you can install the 5-Flat Vehicle End, # 20016. What you will need to do is cut off the 4-Way connector from the harness that was installed then splice the wir

  • How To Convert a 4-way to 5-way for Boat Trailer with Surge Brakes Towed by 2002 Land Rover
  • The reason your boat has a 5-way is because of the reverse lockout solenoid that is on your trailer. The fifth pin will attach to the reverse light circuit so that when you put your 2002 Land Rover Range Rover into reverse the solenoid will prevent the trailer surge brakes from activating so that you will be able to reverse your trailer without your trailer brakes from locking up. You could cut off the 4-way on your adapter that you have and then install a 5-Flat Vehicle End 72 inch Wiring Ha

  • How To Convert 4-Way to 5-Way Trailer Connector On 1995 Toyota Tacoma
  • Yes, to install the 5-Flat Vehicle End, part # 20016, you will need to cut off your existing 4-way adapter. You will splice the wires from your 4-way to the 5-way which will match up color for color. Then, you will connect the Blue Wire to the reverse light circuit on your 1995 Toyota Tacoma. To connect to the reverse light circuit, you will need to find the wires that feed into the back of the tail lights. Then use a circuit tester, like part # 3808 to find the wire that has signal when the

  • There is a way for you to be able to pull your trailer with both your 2003 Honda Goldwing GL1800 and your 1997 Jeep Wrangler. The first thing that is going on between these two vehicles is that the trailer is wired for a separate turn signal system where the brake lights and blinkers are on separate bulbs, whereas your Wrangler is wired to pull a trailer that uses a combined circuit where the blinkers and brake lights are on the same bulb. There is a converter that will allow you to go from a

  • Can a 4-Way Flat on a Truck Be Used with a Trailer 5-Way Flat without Connecting Extra Wires
  • I recommend using the Adapter # 47515 or # 20036 and not connecting the extra blue wire to anything on the truck. On a 5-Way flat connector, the extra blue wire is normally for an electric reverse lockout which you find on a lot of boat trailers. The brakes on the trailer are probably hydraulic with a reverse lockout on the coupler. The blue wire sends power from a reverse light circuit to a solenoid on the coupler that does not allow fluid to pass through to the brakes when the vehicle is in
