Video Transcript for Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2005 Chevrolet Corvette

Today we are going to install part number 118172 from Draw-Tite, and we are going to hard wire this onto a 2005 Chevrolet Corvette. To get access to the wiring, we are going to take off one of the tail lights on each side. Because it is in fact all empty behind here, what we will do is run our wiring up above this license plate here, right next to the license plate light, and then make our connections behind the tail lights. The first step involved is to go ahead and take off the tail lights, one on each end. There is a little screw that comes out from inside, it is located right here. There is a little screw in this area right about here you take out and the light comes off. And you have access to your wiring right here. We will go ahead and just take the lens off for now. We want to do that one on each side. We will go ahead and peel back some of this tape on here to get a little more access to the wire itself. At this point you can actually test the wires and see which function does what. Black is going to be ground, brown is going to be the running light, and yellow is going to be the left-turn signal.

All right, next we will start our wiring up through here. We can reach in and pull it all the way through. What is nice about this location is you can take it and wedge it between the body and the light and there is just enough tension to hold it in place when you are not using it. All right at this point it is a simple matter of attaching the wires with the wire taps. Next we will take our green wire and pull it away, and split it off from the other three wires, just enough to reach behind the body work here, off to the other side. All right, and now we reinstall our tail lights and pull the wiring back through. Like I said before, it wedges nicely between the body work and the license plate light. You just pull off to the side and it comes right out. You can pull out as much as you need to get down to your trailer or cargo carrier with lights.
