Today we are going to show the Draw-Tite 4 and 5-Flat Trailer Connector Mounting Box, part number 18145. The Draw-Tite mounting box is designed to mount to the frame or tongue of your trailer and neatly hold your 4 or 5-way trailer connector. Its manufactured from black ABS plastic and you can install it with either the included self-tapping screws or a pair of zip-ties. The box opens up with a flap door in front and inside is where we are going to house our 4-way or 5-way connector. 0:33
On the back the plastic is thinner and you can just score an X to allow enough flex to fit your 4-way or 5-way connector through. On the top of the box are two preformed mounting holes and we are going to use the included self-tapping screws to attach it to the tongue of our trailer. Okay, let us grab our razor knife and cut our flap open so we can fit our 4-way through. Let us take the razor knife and cut along the pre-molded X lines. They are faint, but you should be able to see them when you have one in front of you. Now we are ready to mount our box onto the trailer frame. 1:15
Next, we are going to take our box and use it as a template to mark and drill some small pilot holes on our trailer frame. With our holes pre-drilled we are ready to sink in our self-tapping screws. We will get our screws started and then we will run them in. Once we have sunk the screws, we are ready to feed our trailer connector through. We will take our 4-way and push it through the slotted X that we created earlier, open the door and come to the front of the box and push it all the way through. Then, we will take the connector itself and the excess wire, curl it up and tuck it inside the box. That way it is protected and stored when we are not using the trailer. And that does it for the 4 and 5-Way Flat Trailer Connector Mounting Box from Tow Ready, part number 18145.

Great box for keeping the loose trailer plug and wiring neat and orderly. Just coil it up, stick it in the box, and close the cover. The cover has tabs that act as a friction catch to hold the door securely closed. They last me about four or five years. Eventually the tabs break or the plastic hinge fails, but hey, at this price, it can't be beat. 14881

I had one of these on my old Blazer and loved it. It keeps the wires safe and no chance of them dragging the ground when stored. These als cut down on the corrosion in the plug as it is out of the weather and road salt. I bought this one for my Dad and will put it on when he is not looking. Merry Christmas Dad!!!27858

Not installed yet. Although I have not installed the products that I ordered they are upon inspection out of the box of high quality. The hinges on the Connector Mounting Box item #18145. Could be a little more reinforced but that is something only time will tell as to how it hold up being opened and closed repeatedly. I would like to say that this etrailor.com web site and their delivery process is phenomenal. It was delivered promptly and I was kept informed of the order and where it was in the process.
