Leaf springs are an integral part of your trailer suspension system. The double-eye spring is suspended at the ends by hangers that attach to its eye or, in the case of tandem-axle or triple-axle systems, into hangers in the front and rear and an equalizer or equalizers in the center. To determine the type of hangers or hanger kit you need, you must know the specific type of leaf spring you have, as well as your axle diameter and capacity. Depending on the hanger kits used with them, springs can be configured to work for single-, tandem- or triple-axle applications.

Please Note: To ensure proper axle alignment and suspension performance, leaf springs should always be replaced in pairs.

Today were gonna be looking at part number 1724, the 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Axles. When youre ordering a new spring for you trailer, there are a some things you need to know first. This spring measures 23 inches long by 1 inches wide. Youll need to know the springs half-length which is measured from the center of the eye mount to the center of the spring here at the leaf bolt. This spring measure 11 inches half-length. A final measurement which you will need to know is the height of the spring. This is measured by drawing a line from the center of the eye mount to the center of the eye mount from either side of the spring.

And from that imaginary line, youll take a measurement from the spring surface to it. In this case, this springs height is 3 inches.Youll notice that it does have 3 springs giving it 1,750-lb total capacity. When you multiply that by two per axle, that will you a 3,500-lb total spring capacity. With the two 9/16 mounting holes, there are nylon bushings within them. This bushings will help to prevent metal on metal contact while the spring is on the trailer. And that does it for part number 1724, the 3-Leaf Double-Eyed Spring for 3,500-lb Axles. .

I ordered from two other sources, as i wasn't sure about the leaf spring dimensions. By far your product exceeded all the other springs, both in quality(thicker) and in price. eTrailers price was half the cost of another one i'd ordered. Thank you for providing a quality item and a very reasonable price. You have my future business. Shipping time was normal. Brian Jewell26795

  • Trailer Spring Selection for a 1974 Two Horse WW Horse Trailer
  • To determine the proper leaf springs to purchase we will need to get some measurements and a few other details. First we will need to know if your trailer has double eye springs or slipper springs, next we need to know how many axles the trailer has and the weight capacity of your trailers axle or axles. Measurements needed are the distance from the center of one eye to the center of the other eye on the double eye leaf spring and from the center of the eye to the highest point on the slipper sp

  • How To Determine Trailer Suspension Hanger Spacing on a Dual Axle Trailer
  • The spring will be attached directly to the hanger closest to the front of the trailer. The back of the spring will be connected to an equalizer which will then be attached to a hanger. If the equalizer is 6-1/16 inches long, center to center, and the mounting hole on it is in the center, it will be 3-1/32 inches beyond the center of the rear eye hole. So, if the spring is 23-1/4 inches from eye center to eye center, add 3-1/32 inches to get 26-9/32. I would then add a maximum of another inch

  • What is the Spring Hanger Spacing for the # PR4B and # 1724 Leaf Springs for Setting Up a Trailer
  • Hanger spacing from center of spring attachment hole to center of shackle link attachment hole is 25-3/4 inches for the # PR4B leaf spring on a single axle trailer. The # 1724 spring hangers should be spaced so that the shackle straps are on an upward angle toward the front of the trailer, 45 degrees or a bit less is a good starting point, when the weight of the trailer is placed on the axle. We do not have a chart for the # 1724 spring hanger spacing because this spring is normally sold as a
