Light Emitting Diode (L.E.D.) trailer lights offer many functional benefits over traditional incandescent trailer lights. Benefits include lower amperage draw, longer life and better resistance to failure due to vibration. In addition, these L.E.D. lights fit into existing incandescent lighting configurations.

Today we are going to show you Petersons Piranha LED small trailer clearance light, part number 168A. This light utilizes two LEDs. It is built around a two wire design, meaning that one wire will be used for electrical ground and the other for our power. It is designed to flush mount against your trailer surface using mounting holes that are 1-15/16 inches on center. Next we will hook up the light to a power supply so you can see how it looks. Take the white wire and connect it to our electrical ground and the other wire will be our power. Next we will turn off the overhead lights so you can see how bright the light is. There you have it for Piranha LED small trailer clearance light, part number 168A.

  • I would recommend checking the running light circuit on your trailer. Specifically, check out the point where the circuit splits to run down each side of the trailer. I would be willing to bet that the 'leg' of the connection that runs down the side of the trailer where the lights are having issues is not completely secure. The yellow wire will be the power wire, whereas the white wire will be the ground wire. In order for this light to illuminate it will need power and a ground to complete the circuit.
