- I went out to the warehouse to measure a Replacement 3 inch Lunette Ring - 20K, # 16137. The overall height of the mounting portion is 3-1/2 inches. The overall width of the mounting surface is actually 2-13/16 inches.
The center to center distance of the mounting holes is 2 inches. The holes are 5/8 inches in diameter.
From the back of the mounting surface to the end of the ring is 7-3/8 inches.

The Lunette Ring, # 16137, does have a mounting surface that is 2-13/16 inches wide, but it needs to be this size to fit in the 3 inch channel. All of the lunette rings that come with a channel have this small gap. The ring in question is 0.1875 inches smaller than the 3 inch opening on your channel.
