Today we are going to install part number 13657 from Curt on a Jeep Wrangler, 1996 model. So where the hitch mounts is on these four bolts here that hold the bumper right on. The hitch gets mounted in this place here and the bumper just gets left off. All right, we will go ahead and do the same thing for the other side of the vehicle. Now, sometimes they get clogged up with dirt, so it is a good idea to spray it down with some cleaner and get out all the loose junk that accumulates in there.
Next we can go ahead and install our hitch. We will install some bolts in the bottom of the frame. At this point, it is a good idea to have an extra set of hands. At this point, we can go ahead and start snugging down our bolts, since we have got everything started now. And, since we are here, we will go ahead and snug these bolts down. All right, once you have got everything snugged down, now you can go ahead and give everything their final torque, as specified in the instructions. That covers our install of part number 13657 from Curt on our 1996 Jeep Wrangler.

As always etrailers was great! the product arrived on time and was as described. the installation video on the website made the install pretty easy. The video was lacking and the positioning of four of the bolts was almost impossible to get to. also be careful not to drop sockets and nuts in the gas tank skid plate (lost two nuts and socket). all and all it wasn't bad and probably had the job done in a little under an hour. i would suggest this product to anyone looking for a hitch for a yj. its not pretty but it does get the job done. 29751

As indicated, the hitch went on 'without a hitch' other than my hands were too big to get the nuts started, at least I did not have to put a wrench on them once I did manage to get them on. It looks great and I am excited to now have the capability to tow my small utility trailer and perhaps get a bike rack for the hitch. Thanks etrailer, for the fast service and complete shipping.27267

one piece of advice is you should add folding clasps on the back of hitch to hide wires instead of zip ties. other than that easy insulation, looks awesome and was only a 45 minute job...highly recommend to any friend... 16289

Installation of the new hitch was very easy. The fit and finish are great with bolt holes aligning perfectly. Really liked the fact that the provided nuts grab to the frame so no need for a wrench as the four inner nuts are really in a tight spot and difficult to get to.15098

Bumper hitch fits well and easy to install. this unit will allow me to use my bumper insert canoe carrier as well to pull a small trailer. Service is great from Etrailer and installation vidio was a great help to install the hitch. Thanks Etrailer.10082

Trailer hitch for husband's jeep My husband recently purchased a 1993 Jeep as a weekend toy. It did not have a hitch for him to haulk his other toy (4-wheeler and trailer).
