Today on this 2009 Nissan Murano we will be installing Curt hitch, part number 13577. Okay we are underneath the vehicle and the first thing we want to go ahead and do is lower the exhaust and get it out of our way. There are four hangers on the exhaust that we need to lower down. There are two here on the drivers side, one here on the passengers side, and one in the middle at the forward side.
I am going to go ahead and spray the studs down with a spray lubricant like a WD-40. And you can take a pry bar or a pair of pliers and remove the rubber hanger from the stud. Here at the rear I am going to go ahead and support the middle tube of the exhaust system, because once you remove it off of all four hangers the exhaust will down and could possibly damage the system. I am going to take a basic ratchet strap, you can use a bungee cord or some rope if you would like, and just basically route it across. Just enough to support the middle bar again.
Okay next over here on the drivers side we want to remove the tow hook. There are four bolts holding the tow hook onto the frame that we need to remove. With the tow hook removed you can see on the drivers side frame rail that we have multiple weld nuts here at the bottom of the frame. We are going to be using this one here and this one here. And we are going to attach the hitch using the new 12 millimeter hardware that is provided with the installation kit. And then here, at the third attaching point, we are going to be reusing one of the bolts that was holding the tow hook in place. Over on the passengers side you will see there are just two weld nuts here at the bottom of the frame. Again, these two weld nuts will be using the new 12 millimeter hardware that is provided with our installation kit. Now that we have those pointed out we can go ahead and mount the hitch up into place.
Now that we have the hardware in up into place we can torque our bolts down. You want to check with the directions to verify the appropriate torque rating for each individual bolt. Okay with all the bolts torqued down you want to put the exhaust back up on its hangers and our installation will be complete. And with that, that will conclude the installation of Curt hitch part number 13577 on a 2009 Nissan Murano.

I received the trailer hitch 4 days after I ordered it. Already pleased out of the gate by having it arrive so I could install it this weekend. The installation went very well as advertised. The only pain as I expected it would be was putting the car trim pieces back into place (always easier to disassemble then to reassemble so no surprise) after I completed the electrical for the lights. The video of the process was a big help. I could not be more pleased with the price and the quality. I think you guys have it figured out. 12260

I just instaled the Curt trailer hitch I got from etrailer on my 2010 Nissan Marano. I was able to do it laying on my back in my driveway because the fit was perfect. I liked the Curt hitch best because I like the round tube design better than the square tube ones. Only took me about an hour to do, piece of cake. Just waiting now for the hitch mounted bicyle rack to come, than I'll be good to go. Thanks etrailer, I'll be back.10924

Nice product with perfect fit. It took me (alone) about 30-40 mins to install (without lowering the exhaust). Videos on the web site are very helpful with step by step instructions. 28389

I would definitely order from etrailer again as the communication was excellent and the hitch arrived timely and with all hardware needed to install. It's a nice clean but beefy looking hitch. My brother and I installed this in little over 1/2 an hour in my driveway. We backed the car onto car ramps to raise the back some (easier to get underneath). Between having an extra set of hands to help, the car ramps to raise the vehicle some, and having a nice long socket extension (probably around 12"), we didn't even have to remove the exhaust from it's hangers. I wish everything went on like this hitch did (like it's supposed to.....). Thanks etrailer!20810

Excellent communication from the moment the transaction was placed through etrailer. They emailed me when the hitch was shipped and a follow up when delivery was completed. The hitch itself is awesome looking and well built. I have to admit I was a bit reluctant on installing the hitch myself, but after watching the online demonstration of the installation for the second time I was ready to give it a try. Very seldom do thing work for me without a hitch, no pun indented, but this time it did. Clean easy installation.....19049
