Today we will be installing part number 13555, made by Curt, on a 2011 Honda CR-V. A couple of measurements to consider when purchasing accessories for your new Curt hitch is from the center of the hitch pin hole to the most exterior point of the bumper is 3-1/2 inches. And from the top of your new Curt hitch to the ground is about 16 inches. Our first step is to gain access to where our mounting holes are going to be. So there are two exhaust hangers located at the rear of the muffler that we have to remove to lower the exhaust. I recommend to shoot a little lubricant onto the exhaust hangers, creating ease for removal. You will notice how the exhaust folds right down out of our way. 0:49

On the passenger side you will be using the rear two most threaded holes for the installation of your mounting bolts. And on the driver side you will be using the center two bolt holes for your installation of your hitch. Now we are going to take a minute. What we want to do is make sure our mounting holes are free and clear of any dirt and debris. What I like to do is spray a little penetrating oil in to the hole and clean it out really well, being thorough, so that I know my bolts will go in smoothly. We like to use part number 814092, a pipe brush, for cleaning out our thread holes. Now that I have my holes cleaned out, I want to go ahead and check them just to make sure my bolts are going to run in smoothly. There is our second one, perfect. We are going to repeat the same process on the passenger side. 1:47

Now what we are going to do is install this U-shaped bolt through our tow hook here in the rear of the vehicle. This will be a mounting point once we get to that step. We want to install it now just for ease of installation. Now that we have that installed, we are going to prep our hardware so we can install our hitch. We are going to be using 10 millimeter bolts and conical washers. You will notice the teeth on the washers will face to the bottom of the vehicle. Now is a good time to get a second pair of hands to help with the install of your hitch. Now I am going to go ahead and install my mounting bolts. Now I am going to install the 7/16 nuts on our U-shaped bolt. And at this time, everything will just be finger tight. Get all of our hardware installed. Now we are going to go through on each one of our mounting points and just give it a hand tighten with our ratchet and socket. There is the two on the driver side. We have our U-bolt in the center. And we will quickly hit our two bolts mounted on the passenger side above the muffler. 3:14

Now that we have all of our hardware tightened, we are going to go ahead and torque all of our hardware down to the correct rating as specified in the instructions. Now we are going to do our U-bolt. Now that we have all of our mounting hardware tightened down to torque specifications, we can reinstall our muffler. And that completes the installation of Curt part number 13555 on a 2011 CR-V.
