On this 2008 Colorado LS we are going to install a hitch from Curt and it is going to be part number 13252. First we will show you where the hitch mounts up on the frame. Alright, the hitch is going to mount on the bottom and side of the frame. It is going to mount here and here also. We are going to show you the spacer really fast. This spacer and this spacer gets installed in between the hitch and the frame of the vehicle. This little spacer is the one that we will use to fish wire inside the frame. So when you install your spacers just make sure you have the right one going in the right spot. You do not want to put this one inside the frame if you do not have to to begin with. 0:40
Alright, next we will go ahead and install our hardware for this hole back here. We are going to fish wire it. And the kit does come with the fish wiring tool right here. What we are going to do is push it in the hole we are going to use and we are going to come out this access hole right here. And first we are going to slide on our plate. And you want to put it in there so the plate sits like that inside the frame. Thread this in and then the trick is to put this right up against the edge of the steel like this and roll it in. Once you get it in, then you can pull it through. If you cannot get it in there, then you are going to have to take a file and file out the edge a little bit so you can get the bolt inside. And at this point, we can go ahead and start installing the hitch. At this point it is a good idea to have an extra set of hands involved because it is kind of wide and awkward to work with. Now, we have the hitch in position. You will notice there is a pretty big gap between the hitch and the frame of the vehicle. Now there are a couple of different styles of bumper brackets so that is why they do that, to accommodate that. Since our bumper bracket it on the inside of the frame, we are going to use the supplied spacers to go up in between and take up the gap. 1:57
Let us go ahead and run our bolt in through there. Then we will go ahead and thread it into the existing weld nut. Alright, on the fastener that goes on the bottom of the frame actually gets reused from the factory. Once we have all of our hardware started, basically what we want to show you next is that these washers here still have a pretty good amount of space between there. That is fine. The hitch is purposefully built to be a little bit wide for different configurations of bumpers. So when you snug down the bolts, the hitch will draw down to the frame. It is perfectly acceptable. Alright, once we get all of our bolts started and snugged down, we can go ahead and torque the bolts down as per the instructions. OK, with just those few steps we are already done with our install of part number 13252 from Curt.
And once you have got the hitch centered, you can go ahead and tighten down the bolts. I would start with the one at the bottom of the frame. Tighten those first and then you can go to the ones on the side of the frame. Make sure that you tighten them evenly otherwise, they will pull the hitch one way or the other and possibly put it off-center. OK, and with bolts tightened into place, you want to go ahead and torque them down now. You want to follow the manufacturers specified torque rating for each bolt, which can be found in the instruction sheet. And with all the bolts torqued down, our installation is complete. And this concludes the installation of hitch part number 75607 on a 2008 Chevrolet Colorado.

The installation was simple and fast. I review the video that was provided, then just followed it. Putting the extra bolt through the frame and using the provided spacer and fish wire made the installation easy. I got some help from a neighbor to hold one end while I bolted up one end and then finished off the other side. The video made this installation very easy and quick. I took me about an hour (that included getting a neighbor to help).13346
