Leaf springs are an integral part of your trailer suspension system. The slipper spring is suspended at one end by a hanger that attaches to the eye. The other end slips into a hanger or, in the case of tandem-axle or triple-axle systems, into an equalizer. To determine the type of hangers or hanger kit you need, you must know the specific type of leaf spring you have, as well as your axle diameter and capacity. Depending on the hanger kits used with them, springs can be configured to work for single-, tandem- or triple-axle applications.
Please Note: To ensure proper axle alignment and suspension performance, leaf springs should always be replaced in pairs.

Today well be taking a look at part number 1203T3, the 5-Leaf Slipper Spring for 7,000-lb axles. Before ordering a new spring for you trailer, there are a few things you need to know first. This spring measures 24 7/8 inches long by 2 inches wide. Youll need to know the springs half-length which is measured from the center of the eye mount to the center of the spring at the leaf bolt. This springs half-length is 11 3/16 inches. One final measurement you will need to get is the spring height. This is measured by drawing a line from the center of the eye mount to the top of the leaf surface from the other side.
Well use this line and measure it down to the spring surface at the leaf bolt. This springs height is 3 inches.Youll notice that this spring does have 5 leaves giving it the ability to support 3,500 lbs. When you multiply that by two, you get your 7,000-lb total axle capacity.Youll notice the 9/16 mounting location with a nylon bushing in it. This nylon bushing helps prevent metal-to-metal contact while the spring is on the trailer. And that does it for part number 1203T3, the 5-Leaf Slipper Spring for 7,000-lb Axles.
