Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area, behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side interior trim panels. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area. It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

The on-line shopping, customer question follow-up by Greg & others, and 1st shipment on time was all just excellent. Well done!

2010 Hyundai Sonata

I tried everything in the book to get this to work. I verified everything we hooked up correctly. I had someone verify my connections based on the instructions. Actually there is little room for error since all the connections use existing connectors except for the positive lead to the battery.

After more than 6 hours of installation and troubleshooting I finally gave up. All I can assume it the unit is defective.

The hitch is another disaster which I was surprised to have happen. I purchased from eTrailer before with great success. This was the reason for coming back. This is now in question.

2011 Hyundai Sonata

No problems with install. Instructions were helpful. Third hitch and wiring harness I have bought from e-Trailer.

by:
2010 Hyundai Sonata

every thing seems to be as represented on the website. Instructions are quite complete and easy to understand. Admittedly, the black line running from the wiring harness back to direct contact to the battery in the front engine compartment has been a challenge.

  • Trailer Wiring Installation on a 2012 Hyundai Sonata
If you can access the tail light wiring through the opening you are describing then you could perform the isntallation that way. However, you will still need to mount the converter box out of the way and pulling away the lining is the best way to get to the bare metal of the trunk area. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. I have also included a link to an FAQ article with tips on routing the power wire to the battery.

  • Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2014 Hyundai Sonata GLS
We do have a wiring harness that will fit your 2014 Hyundai Sonata GLS. One option is Tow Ready harness # 118557. I checked with Curt and you can also use harness # C56049. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2013 Hyundai Sonata
The Curt Class I Round Tube Receiver Hitch # C11025 referenced in your question is confirmed to fit your 2013 Hyundai Sonata. It will use existing holes in the vehicle's frame for a no-drill installation. This is a Class I hitch that features a 1-1/4 inch receiver, a 2,000 pound towing weight capacity, and a 200 pound tongue weight limit. I have attached an installation video that you can use for reference. If you are looking to tow your bike with a trailer, you will also just want...

  • Choosing 4-Pole Wiring Harness for Non-Hybrid 2013 Hyundai Sonata SE
The Curt harness # C56049 and the Tekonsha harness # 118557 both are confirmed fits for your non-hybrid 2013 Hyundai Sonata SE. The one big difference between them, as you noted, is that the Tekonsha kit is a powered harness that can provide higher current output for the trailer's lights, up to 4.2-amps per stop/turn circuit and up to 7.5-amps for the running light circuit. The Curt harness cannot deliver as much current since it relies on the car's own internal wiring to deliver the...

  • Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for 2011 Hyundai Sonata
For your 2011 Hyundai Sonata non-Hybried the trailer wiring you would want is the part # 118557. Of all of the harnesses we carry the Tekonsha brands tends to be the most reliable is why I recommend it. I attached an install video for this harness for you to check out as well.

  • Do I Need Diodes or Resistors For Trailer Wiring Harness Installation on 2014 Hyundai Sonata GLS
Since the Tekonsha # 118557 and Curt # C56049 are powered by a connection to the battery and have converter boxes, there aren't any issues when using them with LED tail lights on your 2014 Hyundai Sonata GLS; you won't need to use any diodes or resistors to make your harness work properly to power your trailer lights. I do recommend using the Tekonsha # 118557 since we've found that the powered Modulite converters on these harnesses are much more reliable than some of the others available....

  • Does Draw-Tite Class I 24965 Replace Factory Heat Shield When Installed on 2013 Hyundai Sonata
You're exactly correct. Once the # 24965 hitch is installed, it will act as the heat shield protecting the gas tank from the heat given off by the exhaust system. You needn't worry about the portion of the shield that's trimmed away, the hitch is constructed of much heavier and thicker metal than the very thin metal the heat shield is constructed of. If you'll be using the hitch for light duty towing, you'll need a few other items to complete your towing system. For a trailer wring harness,...

  • Can Wiring Harness # 118433 from 2010 Hyundai Sonata Fit 2014 Sonata Non-Hybrid Model
Thank you for your 2011 purchase of a wiring harness. That actual part you ordered is Tow Ready harness # 118433 which is intended for 2006 through 2009 model years of the Sonata. It is not a confirmed fit for the 2010 Sonata, please note. The recommended harness for your 2014 Hyundai Sonata non-hybrid is Curt # C56049 which is shown in the linked video. This harness installs without any cutting or splicing of wires thanks to its custom-fit connectors. There is no resetting function for...

  • Why is Powered Converter Type Trailer Wiring Harness Needed for 2013 Sorento SX
All of our 4-pole trailer wiring harness kits for your 2013 Kia Sorento SX V6 without factory tow package are shown on the linked page, such as # C59496. All use a powered converter, which means that rather than simply plugging in to your taillight wiring and using the car's internal wiring to transmit signals for the trailer, these powered converters protect the car's wiring by delivering power for the trailer lights from a separate power connection at the battery. Each kit includes a...

  • Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendations for 2012 Hyundai Sonata
Both the Curt # C56049 and the Tow Ready # 118557 would work with your 2012 Sonata. The primary difference between the two is that the Tow Ready model is a powered converter that obtains the power to drive the trailer taillights directly from the battery, instead of pulling the power through the taillight wiring. The converter obtains its switching signals from the taillight circuits only. This provides a more reliable power supply and another layer of protection for the vehicle wiring...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver And Tow Setup For Towing Motorcycle On Trailer
For your 2013 Hyundai Sonata, I recommend the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver - Class I # 24965. With this hitch, you will want the Sportframe Drawbar 2-1/8" Rise or 2-3/4" Drop 2000 lb Kit # 3593. This ball mount can use a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball like # 19256 or a 2 inch hitch ball like # 19258 to match your trailer coupler. This bike rack will fit into your receiver without needing an Adapter # HTAD as the Hollywood Racks # HR1450Z would require. The adapter does reduce your tongue weight capacity by 50%, or 200lbs to 100lbs on the Curt receiver above. The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118557 will give you a 4-way connector. This...
