T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Trailer Connector

Video Transcript for Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2009 Ford Taurus X

Today we are working on a 2009 Ford Taurus X. We will be installing wiring harness, part number 118448. Our first step is going to be gaining access to the rear compartment of the vehicle. Our next step is to then remove the rear threshold. Remove two pins on the lower side of the threshold. I have my cargo hooks up and out of the way, now we should be able to work the threshold trim piece off of the plastic fasteners that are holding it. Gently pry up on it, enough to release the fasteners. :39

Now we have a couple of cargo hooks on both sides that will need to be removed. We can again get behind our trim panel and gently pry it away from the vehicle, releasing the plastic fasteners. Located behind the tail light is a light gray plug that we are going to disconnect and plug in our new T-one harness. You see the brown and yellow side of our T-one connector. The white wire is going to be our ground. I am going to peel that back for an easier install of this later on. 1:20

Now what I want to do is go back and into the manufacturers harness. I will then take the other side of my yellow and brown wire and connect it to the back of the tail light plug. Now that we have our brown and yellow wire mounted, we need to route our green wire to the passenger side of the vehicle. Again, here we have two two hooks to remove. We are going to get in behind the trim panel and pop our fasteners loose. Here you can see the light gray plug. We are going to disconnect. Again, this will look very similar to the driver side. Plug in our new T-one connector and plug in to the back of our tail light. We have a lot of excess wire. What I am going to do is tuck that back here on the passenger side and behind the trim panel. Now that I have most of that wire out of the way, we can go ahead and reinstall our trim panel on the passenger side. Then reinstall our cargo hooks. That completes the installation of the passenger side. 2:28

Remaining, is our white ground wire. What we are going to do here is pull the carpet back on the driver side and make a new hole in the corner to install our ground wire. We will use the self taping screw that is provided in the installation kit. That completes the installation of our ground wire, I will go ahead and put the carpet back. Then go to the driver side trim panel and reinstall it. You can see now all we have is our 4-pole connector inside the vehicle where it is going to stay when not in use. Now we will go ahead and reinstall our rear threshold. All of our fasteners are in place. This completes the installation of our new 4-pole connector. 3:17

To use the 4-pole connection, what you do is route it here to the outside of the vehicle, down to the hitch as needed. The weather stripping will be thick enough that it will not harm the wire when the hatch is closed. You just want to stay away from the latch on in the center. That completes the installation of our new Tow Ready T-one connector. part number 118448 on a 2009 Ford Taurus X .
