Tow Ready T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness by Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch and Reese
Can be used with 5-pole, 6-pole or 7-pole adapters.
Installation: Connection points are located behind the vehicle taillights. Wire is routed from driver to passenger side below the threshold cover of the rear hatch. 4-pole trailer connector is stored in the cargo area of the vehicle when not in use.
Tech Tip: It is always a good idea to apply a small amount of grease to all electrical connections to help prevent corrosion.

Today on this 2009 Honda Civic we are going to install part number 118420 from Tow Ready, this is their T-One wiring harness. The attachment points for our wiring harness are going to be right behind the tail lights so we are going to have to get inside to remove the carpeting and interior side panels as well as the threshold. With the floor panel out of the way we will work on the threshold and there is a fastener in the back here and you can just pop it out with your hands. You should be able to lift straight up and it should unpop. There are three fasteners and we will remove that so we can have access behind the tail light. We are done with the driver side and now we will go over to the passenger side and repeat the same process. 00:39
Now we can start hooking up the T connector. We are going to start with the yellow wire which is going to be the left turn signal so you can look at the tail light and see which one your turn signal is and then just go to the back of the light and disconnect it. The T-connector will match the other side and plug the other half back into the tail light. Now do the same thing with the red and brown wire. The red wire is going to be the brake signal and the brown wire is going to be the running light signal so that will probably be the red part of the lens and take a look and see where that is at. It looks like it is going to be on the top and it will come apart just like the other one did. 01:15
Next we will work on our white wire with the ring terminal and that will get the ground and we are going to use this factory ground right here. Now take the green wire and we are going to run it along the factory harness and go over to the turn signal on the passenger side. Now we will take the green wire and we will zip tie it to the harness. Next we will work with the converter box and we will mount that. There is a clean piece of sheet metal right here and we will attach it to there. We will take up the excess wire and we will zip tie it safely out of the way. We will take the 4-pole and we are going to leave it with the spare tire right now and we will reinstall the interior panels. Remember we left the 4-pole in the trunk well and when you need to use it you can just pull up the lid and pull it out as we need to and we will shut the door and you can continue to pull out what you need to go down to the trailer and of course when you are not needing it you can just put it back with the spare tire with it safe and out of the way and you do not have to worry about it corroding outside. There you have it for part number 118420 from Tow Ready on our 2009 Honda Civic.

The harness has the appearance of good design, quality manufacture, ruggedness and durability. The connectors fit snugly and securely. The wires are right-sized (length). It works as expected. I installed the wiring harness myself, and initially had problems. I tried to connect to the first two tail light connectors I saw, instead of locating the specified light for a specified harness connector. I thought the wiring harness connectors were misfit. Customer service gently encouraged me to activate the specific light (turn signal or running lights), find that tail light and then connect that harness connection to it. I reluctantly complied, tried it, and found that it worked (as advertised). I called back to thank CS and apologize for being moronic. I was assured that I wasn't a moron. Customer service was patient, tolerant and helpful - a pleasure to deal with.9567

The service was excellent again, this being my third hitch and harness set purchased over a few years from eTrailer. The T-One wiring harness is an excellent product, far superior to cutting and splicing on your vehicle’s wiring, particularly now with the small wires used with the LED lights of modern cars. The installation was straight forward, though the instructions could be greatly improved with some model-specific detail on removing trunk panels, and on identifying the correct vehicle plugs. Ultimately, the number of pins in the connector guides the match-up, but a little more information would speed the process. Overall, an excellent product from an excellent company. Good customer service, prompt delivery, quality products. 29780

The install was easy as pie on a 2005 Mazda3 5 Door. I did buy an M6 bolt to use the existing ground connection on the drivers side instead of using the provided sheet metal screw. Installation takes 5 minutes. It was so easy to install/remove, I chose not to leave it permanently installed. I just install when needed.29167

I loved your service and the product. I asked for it to be shipped right away because I was planning a trip, and my brother was going to install it for me. I recieved an e-mail that said it would ship that day. My brother works in a shop in Montana. I will say he's a gifted mechanic. He installed the product in my 2010 Honda Civic in less then 30 min. with no problems. I am now able to tow my Rack and Roll kayak trailer. Thank You23279

The T-One wiring harness is an excellent product. It attaches to the original wiring precisely, leaving the job completely reversable should that ever be desired. Making all the connections and routing the wires is quite easy, it's just removal/reinstallation of all the cover panels that takes all the time and care.19875

The installation was easy. The only problem that I had is that the hitch pin was not in the package, just the locking clip. I could not believe that it was missing, but it was, as I carefully went through all the packing material. 16722

it Works in a 2007 Civic Si Sedan I'm not exactly sure why it says it will not work with the Civic Si models. I researched parts from Honda and found that the tail light wire harness for the 2007 Civic EX and Si are the same. So this past summer I went on a limb and purchased this unit rather than the alternative one which would have required me to spice into wires. I've confirmed that it does work on a 2007 Honda Civic Si Sedan. It may not work for 2008+ Si Sedans, and it may not work for 2006+ Si Coupes, but I know for sure it works on my 2007 Si Sedan without problems. Installation was easy. I read some folks complaining about directions and I don't understand why., I found the directions nearly unnecessary, it's a pretty simple plug-in and go item. If you have a basic understanding of wiring or you've wired up a trailer before, it should be very straight forward where everything needs to plug into and why. I will admit though that you want to layout all the wiring first to decide the best way to mount the harness in your trunk. The process does give you the feeling that you could work for West Coast Customs when you're done.4423

Real Simple oddly enough I found the instructions easy to follow. But maybe its cos Im a typical bloke, read instructions, get the hang of what it means, chuck 'em away. Open car up and fit them. 20mins later, its done. When I connected it up to the Uhaul, everthing worked perfectly.2887

Follow instructions by Jim T. Feed the directions to the dog Jim T, from Harleysville, PA The directions that come with the wiring are general at best, You still have to figure out a few things it's easy but you have to think about what you are doing. 2708

Special thanks to Jim T!!! I actually owned this for roughly a year before installing the harness. Much like Jim, the hitch went on without a problem, and when I made it to the installation instructions for the harness, I stared at it and my trunk for 15 minutes and put it on the shelf....(yes, i have two engineering degrees.....) I settled for the main intended use of the hitch for carrying bikes :) I decided to following Jims instructions this weekend when I went back to the website to find the "directions" again. Installation was complete within 10-15 minutes thanks to his painstaking instruction writeup. Key is to remove the strip edge piece first. I was able to do the right hookup without removing any panel fasteners, and only had to remove one for the left side (for those of you who try it without, you do have the proper wiring harness, there is a fourth plug above the other three for the missing harness connection (that cost me half of the installation time). A few tie wraps, a few snaps and back in business!! works like a charm. Thanks Jim, there was no need for you to do that but you made the world a better place from your effort!!!2099

YES FEED DIRECTIONS TO THE DOG The product quality is very good. I gave "Installation" 5 stars because I printed off Jim T's directions (See Below) and followed them step by step. I got the Wiring Harness installed in about 15 minutes. Thanks Etrailer and Jim T1358

Feed the directions to the dog While the hitch went on my '06 Civic without a problem, this wiring harness allowed our neighbors to learn some new colorful hyphenated words, fitting to my level of aggravation! While the quality of the product was certainly top-notch, the installation instructions were almost unintelligible, highly generic and ambiguous. I rolled them into a ball after 10 minutes and used them to play fetch with the dog. Here are some tips to make this a 10 minute deal instead of 1-1/2 hours that it cost me. PREPARATION - After the trunk mat is out, remove the plastic interior trunk edge piece (about 2' long and right below the bottom of the trunk opening). To do this, lift up and inward at the same time. There are 4 plastic pins and a location tab that hold this in place. If you simply pull on it from the bottom, you'll break off the plastic locator tab. BE CAREFUL! Once this is off, simply remove the three plastic fasteners from the trunk material so as to gain access to the back of the tailights. It's helpful to have a partner hold this material out of the way while you work. INSTALL - You'll see 4 groupings of wiring coming off the little black logic box, one is for the 4-pin trailer harness and the other three connect to the tailights. 2 of the wire groups (the one with the single yellow wire and the one with the 2 wires) go to the drivers side tailight and the single green wire goes to the passenger side tailight. There are 3 connectors on each tailight, each being different, so it's impossible to make an error connecting. These connectors remove by depressing a tab on the edge of the connector while pulling. For each of the 3 wire groups, simply attach the two connectors in series with the disconnected lead from each tailight. There is a main ground lug just below the drivers side tailight, and this is where you attach the white wire with the eyelett on the end. REASSEMBLY - Get yourself some extra wire ties. Attach all of the excess wire to the factory loom. Now, pull the paper off the double-faced tape on the logic box and attach it to the flat surface just to the outside of the drivers side tailight (between the light and the fender). Reassemble all else, making sure that the interior panels fit into the groove in the trunk weatherstripping or the fasteners won't align. They don't tell you this, but the 4-pin trailer connection stays in the trunk when not in use, and the trunk shuts fine with the lead in use.896
