Video Transcript for Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2006 Saturn Vue

Today we are going to install part number 118418 from Tow Ready on our 2006 Saturn Vue. The general layout of this wire harness is that the connections are behind the tail lights, route the wires underneath the vehicle, and the wires will be stored outside the vehicle when we are done. To start off, we will take off the tail lights we will lift the hatch to get to those. All right, and here is our connection point right here. So let us pull this latch out and pull it apart. And repeat for the passengers side. All right, next we need to loosen this section of quarter-panel here to give us some room to run our connectors and put our black box for the T-harness hidden back up inside of here. What we are going to do is take out this nut here and this nut here, and that will give us enough wiggle room to pull the panel off just a little bit.

What we are going to do is take out this nut here and this nut here, and that will give us enough wiggle room to pull the panel off just a little bit.

The next thing we are going to do is go ahead and route our red and green wire to the passengers side. But the exhaust is really close to this area, so what we are going to is start off by putting a zip-tie in this hole in the body work here, and we are just going to use that to help keep everything out of the way. And then next we can run this across: We have to take these little rivets apart for the bumper fascia support, and we actually put it up between the bumper fascia and the supports going all the way across. For now, we will go ahead and secure these wires. Now we do the same thing again for our 4-pole wire harness. We will go ahead and zip-tie it to the rest of our bundle here and hide it behind the bumper. We put these together, and that will clamp everything in place and stay out of the way. We are going to go ahead and take our connector and just put it back up in here, like we did on the drivers side, and just pull it out the top. We will make our connections again. And then now we will take our excess wire and just bundle it and zip-tie it to the existing harness. Now we will go ahead and install our bracket, part number 118144. Take our 4-pole and just pull it through the bracket it is a friction fit. And we are set. And that covers it for part number 118418.
