Video Transcript for Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2005 Buick Tarazza

Today we are going to install part number 118396 from Tow Ready. We are going to install this T-1 harness on a 2005 Buick Tarazza. And also, we are going to use a bracket, part number 118144. First we will install our bracket. It is going to install to the factory bracket that is on the hitch. Now this bracket here, it can be installed like this on the hitch. Or, if you did not have a bracket on the hitch, you could easily attach this to the bumper. We will go ahead and start installing our T-1 connector. And we do have to get the tail lights off the vehicle, so we have to open up the back hatch to get to the screws to take off the tail lights. We will take off these two screws right here and then we just pop the whole assembly off. Once you have the tail light loose, go ahead and disconnect it from the wire harness. It is this connection right here you want to take apart. And then go ahead and repeat the same steps for the other side.

Next what we are going to do is our 4-pole in behind this cavity here behind the light and down out toward the bottom. Also, what we want to do is take the passengers side and push it down in there, too, and pull it out the bottom. The yellow side with the brown wire will always stay up here on the drivers side of the vehicle. In fact, we will go ahead and just snap that into place. All right, now that we have got our passengers side, we will go ahead and run that underneath the body, up to the other side. We will go ahead and install it into our bracket, push it on through, and just kind of work it until it catches those edges right here. And it will be secured it is basically a friction fit. We will leave that alone for now and continue with our other harness going back to the other side.

All right, we will take the other half of our harness, going back up to the passengers side, and just tuck it up in there as far as we can so we can pull it from the top. All right, go ahead and pull it out and just make your connection. And then take your ground wire and just screw it to the sheet metal right behind the tail light. Get it started, and then go ahead and finish it off with a hand tool so you do not strip it out. All right, let us go ahead and reinstall our tail light assemblies now. At this point, we have got our wires pulled back behind the hitch a little bit, and we will go ahead and just get our wires ready and we will set tie them to the back side of the hitch. And do the same thing for the other side, and make sure the wire has plenty of distance between the exhaust. All right, and that finishes our install of part number 118396 from Tow Ready on our 2005 Buick Tarazza.

  • Recommendation for Complete Towing Setup on a 2007 Chevrolet Uplander 3.9 Liter
  • I did some research on your 2007 Chevrolet Uplander and found that the maximum recommended towing capacity for this vehicle is 3,500 pounds. If your trailer is 2,600 pounds empty, you would be limited to 900 pounds or less of cargo. If 900 pounds of cargo sounds about right, you will need to check your hitch capacities and make sure it is capable of towing 3,500 pounds. You may find that a weight distribution system is needed to safely tow the maximum capacity with your vehicle. You should al

  • Equipping 2005 Saturn Relay for Towing
  • Starting with the hitch, I would recommend the Hidden Hitch Class III Receiver Hitch, part # 87410. If the vehicle was not equipped with the tow package which included the trailer connector, you will also need the wiring harness, part # 118396 to tap into the vehicle tail light circuits. You will need a draw bar, part # 2753 and a trailer ball. For a 2 inch ball, use part # 19247 for a 1-7/8 inch ball, use part # 19261. Your trailer should have the required ball size stamped somewhere on the cou

  • Trailer Brake Lights Go Out When Stepping on Brakes in a 2007 Buick Terraza
  • What I think may be occurring is the power draw on the trailer that has the issue is too great for the electrical system on the 2007 Buick Terraza. When you step on the brakes there is more power going to the lights which does not allow them to illuminate correctly. If the trailer has a lot of running lights this may be causing the issue. Check the vehicle owners manual to determine how much power the tow package can handle and compare that to how much power the lights on the trailer require

  • Is the Factory Transmission Cooler Good Enough for Towing
  • The factory transmission cooler on just about any vehicle is not really designed for towing applications. Since transmission fluid cannot be over-cooled, I do recommend adding a supplemental transmission cooler especially when towing. Transmission coolers are not vehicle specific, but some vehicles may need a special fitting for installation. I would need to know the year, make, and model of the vehicle to determine if it needs anything special. The most popular cooler is the Derale Serie
