Video Transcript for Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2002 Toyota RAV4

Today on this 2002 Toyota Rav 4, we are going to install part number 118389 from TowReady. This T1 wire harness installs inside the vehicle behind both tail lights. What that means is we are going to have to get inside the vehicles, take out a couple of the side panels, and the floor coverings as well. Next we will take out the threshold. There are two tie downs next to the side panels, we will take those out next. The we will take the access panels off the side of the interior side panels and then we will open up the panels to have access to the tail lights, and then we will have to pull back the panels themselves a little bit. :39

Starting off on the drivers side, we have pulled our panel back and you can see where our wiring connection is at. It is kind of hidden, maybe below the shelf here, inside the access panel. Push that in, pull it apart. Push that back to the side. Bound up everything. Then go ahead and really start putting our panel back together. Slide it under the carpet here. Then, with our red and green wire going on our passenger side here we are going to do the same thing again. We are going to tuck it behind our panel here and snap it into place and find a nice place for our ground. 1:24

Our next connection is actually right next to a bigger wiring harness connection, but it is the smaller of the two. Again, we will just pop it out. Next, what we will do, go ahead pull our ground wire up a little bit. Right behind here is a good ground screw to use for a connection for our ground. Take our 4 pole and push it behind the panel too. Now we will go ahead and mount our converter box. Let us use the adhesive on here and we will just mount it to the sheet metal straight back. Now we can go ahead and put this panel back into place. 2:00

All right, now we have got it installed and we will show you how to use it. Again, it can be kept inside the storage panel by the jack tools and when you need to use it, you just pull it out, and you just shut the door on it and only pull out what you need to go to the trailer.
