Note: MX base plates will work only with the Roadmaster tow bars that slide into a trailer hitch, such as the Sterling, Blackhawk, Blackhawk 2, Falcon and Falcon 2. The MX base plates will not work with tow bars that require a hitch ball.
MX Series brackets do not require a crossbar because of the heavy-duty nature of your vehicle's frame. Thus, installation is simplified, the hookup process is faster, and the total appearance is enhanced.
Note: The EZ Hook safety cables included with Roadmaster's Sterling tow bars will not work with MX series base plates. These cables connect to an anchor plate on the Quick Disconnect crossbar, which will not be present when you are using MX base plates.
The drawbars, or front arms, on the MX series base plate kit are simple to mount and remove, easily securing with pins. Once the drawbars have been removed, the remaining brackets are virtually invisible. On most vehicles, the brackets are mounted within the grille, where they remain not only unseen, but protected from scrapes and scuffs as well.

- Will the MX Base Plate Kit 1017-3 Work On a 2004 Jeep Wrangler with a Falcon 5250 Tow Bar
- At this time we do not have an MX base plate kit designed for the 2004 Jeep Wrangler. The correct base plate kit is the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, item # 1424-1.
With the XL base plate kit you will need to use the cross bar and if you want to remove the XL brackets from the car when not towed you will need the Roadmaster Tow Bar Quick Disconnect Kit, item # RM-201.

- According to Roadmaster, you will need to use Roadmaster Base Plates, # 1432-1, for your 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. These base plates will fit all 2 and 4 door models as long as they do not have aftermarket bumpers, winches, or guards.

- In order to flat tow your 2008 Jeep Wrangler you would not need to install a front hitch onto your vehicle. A front mount hitch would most likely interfere with you being able to install the required base plates.
You would need a base plate kit though. As long as you did not have an aftermarket bumper, winch or guards you could use a Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, part # 1429-1, or if you had a Mopar/Warn bumper on your Wrangle you would need a Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, part # 1430-1.
