Erickson 4K Ratchet Strap with Twisted Snap Hooks and Safety Latches
Twisted snap hooks with keepers make connecting the strap to the tie-down quick and easy while also offering peace of mind.
Always use the safe working load limit when selecting tie-down straps. The total of all of the safe working load limit capacities of the straps being used should be equal to or exceed the weight of the item being tied down. Example: with a box weighing 3,300 lbs., you will want to use 2 straps with a 5,000 lb. max load limit. The safe working load for a 5,000 lb. strap is 1650 lbs.

This is a 1-1/2 inch x 15 ft. long, 4,000 pound ratchet strap assembly with the twisted snap hooks. This device is intended for anybody carrying a heavy cargo load on their trailer or flat bed pickup truck. Again this is good for 4,000 pounds, so you could use this for a heavy tool box, lumber or what not. This is approaching industrial duty materials. Again if you are not approaching that kind of weight, the 15 ft. length will help out in just about any tie down situation, even for a weekend warrior. What we have here is a nice heavy duty ratchet assembly. As you can see you pull this button back and it releases forward. To ratchet it down you simply push down. As you can see here this center portion of the axle, the strap will go here. To operate it you pull the strap through, take up your slack and then you ratchet everything tight. We will go ahead and demonstrate its use on a typical application.
We have our assembly here, we will just go ahead and tie down this box. We will start with the ratchet end and attach it on the left hand side, and then we will move on to the right hand side. At this point we can thread our strap through the center axle, and pull our slack through. It is a good idea to go back through the bottom. Pull all of your excess through. This you will have to tie up in your own fashion. And after you pull the slack out, you hold it and just ratchet it together. You pull it flat and there you have it, your cargo is properly secured. Also you will notice the hooks are shaped a little bit different than normal hooks. The normal flat hook would be parallel with this strap here. What would happen is if the hook were that way you would get a twisting with the strap which would give extra tension on the strap, which is not very good for the webbing itself. With this twisted hook, as you can see here, allows the strap to stay flat on the load, less wear and tear and more distribution of the forces. There you have it for part # 01324, the 1-12 inch x 15 ft. ratchet straps with twisted hooks from Erikson Manufacturing.
