Video Transcript for Yakima Roof Rack Review - 2014 Chevrolet Traverse
Today on our 2014 Chevy Traverse, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima Round-Bar Roof Rack System, part number Y00409 for our round bars, part number Y00124 for our foot pack, and Y00732 for our fit kit. I installed the front bar on the vehicle as well as all of our foot packs. We will show you how to put one of the foot pack and fit kits together though. You're going to start by putting the pad of the fit kit onto the bracket of the foot pack. We'll press that in place. Next what we're going to do is install our clip. We'll pull up on the cover here. What we'll need to do is take the lock core in the clip, pulling the lock core in place out.
I'll pry the clip out. With that removed, we're able to take the lock core out as well. Then we can slide in our clip. With that in place, we'll reinsert the lock core. You want to make sure to line up the groove on the core to the groove here in the hole.
With those lined up, we'll reinsert the clip here, and everything is secured. I'll open our back doors on our Traverse in preparation for loading the bar. We'll set our bar on top of our vehicle. What we'll need to do is get a measurement from the front bar to the rear bar. This should measure 32 inches center-to-center. We'll do that.
We'll also want to get that same measurement on the other side to make sure everything is square and our bars in line. We'll tighten this side down and position it into place and close our door on it. With that done we can work on the passenger side to make sure it's in the right position and secured down. Go ahead and test it out. The cover here acts as cam lever. You want to make sure you don't have it too tight.
You're able to tighten and loosen it by this bolt here just above the lock core. I'm going to loosen it a little bit. That way we don't cam it over too tight. Right there is perfect. When we installed our front bar, we measured from the window seal to the leading edge of the foot pack. That should measure 17 inches as you can see there. With our rack and the round-bar roof rack system installed on our vehicle, we're ready to hit the road. These are part numbers Y00409, Y00732, and and Y00124. .
When equipment is installed on the roof of a vehicle, wind noise will occur. It is unavoidable, but you can do certain things to minimize the noise. The round bars used with the Yakima rack system you mentioned can be quieted to some degree by using a fairing like part # Y07049. Keep in mind, the fairing will help streamline the rack itself, but whatever is placed on the crossbars like a cargo basket, box or ski rack will cause further turbulence and therefore noise. Keep in mind that view full answer...
You are correct that the discontinued Rola Roof Rack # 59765 was a fit for your 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe with panoramic sunroof. The other Rola rack you referenced, # 59790, is not a fit for your 2013 Santa Fe.
Our contact at Rola advised that they have a replacement for the discontinued rack, part # 59779, which will fit the Santa Fe with a naked roof.
We do also have other options for you and these will vary depending on which specific version of the Santa Fe you have; Hyundai offered view full answer...
We carry many roof rack and kayak carrier options for your 2012 Ford Focus. The roof rack that I would recommend is the Yakima Q Tower roof rack that includes two 58 inch crossbars, # Y00409, the Q5 Q Clips, # Y00605, the Q83 Q Clips, # Y00683, and the Q Tower Feet, # Y00124. This will provide you with two crossbars to mount your kayak or kayak carrier to.
I have attached a link to all of the roof rack options that will fit your vehicle for you to check out.

We have a few different roof rack options for your 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Two roof racks that I recommend looking at is the Yakima round bar roof rack or the Thule square bar roof rack systems for hardtops. It appears that your Jeep has a hardtop in the photo you provided.
The Yakima roof rack consists of the following:
58 inch round crossbars # Y00409
Yakima 1A Raingutter Towers # Y00101
The Thule roof rack consists of the following:
58 inch square crossbars # THLB58

The easiest solution would be to assemble a roof rack using the following parts from Yakima:
58 Inch Long Round Crossbars, part # Y00409
Yakima 1A Raingutter Towers, part # Y00101
Once the crossbars are in place, the Thule Flat Top Ski and Snowboard Carrier you already have will attach directly to the crossbars. When used on a Wrangler Hard Top, the drip rails that the roof rack towers attach to have a limited carrying capacity. Yakima recommends carrying skis or snowboards only, view full answer...
You can carry an extension ladder on your 2013 Scion xB with the Yakima Q Tower Roof Rack, but there are a few factors you will want to take into consideration. Once this roof rack is installed, you will have a crossbar spread of 45 inches. The crossbar spread is the distance from the center of the front crossbar to the center of the rear crossbar.
The most important factor to consider is the weight of the ladder. The Yakima Q-Tower crossbars have a weight capacity of 165 lbs, however, view full answer...
I used our Fit Guide to determine which cross bars will work for your 2010 Toyota Prius. I found that the 50 inch Thule Loadbars, part # THLB50, will fit your 2010 Toyota Prius, if you do not have a glass roof. If there is a glass roof, you will need to go with the 58 inch Yakima Crossbars. Also, the 48 inch Yakima Crossbars, part # Y00408, will not fit your 2010 Toyota Prius.
If your vehicle does not have the glass roof, and you decide to use the Thule Loadbars, part # THLB50, you will view full answer...
The crossbar spread for the Yakima Q Tower roof rack on your 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan is 32 inches. For a complete Q Tower roof rack for your vehicle, you will need the 58 inch round crossbars, # Y00409, the Q Tower Feet, # Y00124, and 2 of the Q57 Q Clips, # Y00657. Your RocketBox 16 cargo box requires a crossbar spread of 30 inches to 36 inches, so this roof rack will work well for you.
The crossbar spread for the Thule Rapid Traverse roof rack is shorter at 27-1/2 inches, so it will view full answer...
For your 2014 Kia Sorento LX with naked roof and without the Vista Roof feature you can use any of the roof rack systems shown on the link provided. Options include good basic racks like the cost-effective Yakima round bar system consisting of parts # Y00409, Y00699, Y00124 and ultra-quiet aerodynamic-type racks such as the Whispbar Flush Bar system made of parts # WB-S7 and # WB-K467.
Generally round bar racks will offer the best compatibility with a range of different kayak carriers view full answer...
The Yakima roof rack components that you referenced, parts # Y00409, # Y00702, # Y00606 and # Y00124, make up a complete rack system that fits the naked roof on your 2013 Dodge Dart. The crossbars in this system, part # Y00409, are 58-inches in length. Installation of this system on your vehicle is shown in the linked video.
Crossbars that are 48-inches will not be long enough for your vehicle. The shortest crossbars that will work on your Dart are the 53-inch size that are part of the view full answer...
The longest crossbars we have that will fit the Buick Enclave are in a Yakima roof rack # Y00409 for the 58 inch long bars and # Y00138 for the RailGrab feet. But you could use longer bars # Y00410 for 66 inch long bars. Just watch your head getting in and out of the vehicle!
Then you could use 2 of the Yakima EvenKeel kayak carrier, # Y04052. The 66 inch long bars should be plenty long enough for this set up.
Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual and/or Buick for the roof view full answer...
There are many different ways to attach your suitcase to the roof rack on your 2009 Ford Taurus X sel, but you will have to have crossbars that run perpendicular to the side rails. If you do not have crossbars, then I recommend getting the Yakima RailGrab Roof Rack. This roof rack uses the RailGrab Towers, # Y00138, that attach to the side rails on your roof and hold the round crossbars, # Y00409. This is also our most economical roof rack system designed for your vehicle.

Because the rain gutters on the Wrangler Unlimited aren't very strong, Yakima states that a roof rack constructed of their # Y00101 Towers and the # Y00409 58 inch crossbars cannot handle the weight of anything other than a ski/snowboard carrier like the # Y03081 PowderHound, which can handle 4 pairs of skis or 2 snowboards. A larger size is also available, part # Y03082 which can handle up to 6 pairs of skis or 4 boards. A cargo box would be too heavy, and would likely allow enough air view full answer...
The roof rack system I recommend for your 2013 Dodge Durango is the Yakima system which has a few components. Since you said you have the crossbars you can certainly order just the parts that would complete the roof rack system. First, since you said you have crossbars, to make sure they would work with the balance of the roof rack, you will want to measure your crossbars. For your Durango it requires the crossbars to be 58 inches long. If your crossbars are not the right length I recommend view full answer...
A 2014 Honda Odyssey with a naked roof is a rarity. The vast majority of those vans came with factory installed rails. Although there isn't a custom fit rack available, we can still get a roof rack on your Odyssey.
I recommend going with the Yakima 54 Inch Tracks, # Y01127, or the 60 Inch Tracks, # Y01135 for your Odyssey. You will want to measure the roof of your Odyssey to see which size will work best for you. This track permanently mounts to your vehicle with PlusNut hardware. There view full answer...
As long at the crossbars you use aren't wider than the widest part of the vehicle, which could be a safety problem, you could certainly use the 58 inch crossbars instead of the 48 inch ones. According to my research, the 2009 Optima is about 71 inches wide at it's widest point. Using a 58 inch crossbar would be just fine. The rack capacity is 100 lbs, but keep in mind you might be limited by the actual capacity of the roof, if it's less. Your owner's manual or Kia dealer should be able view full answer...
The roof rack we offer that is confirmed as a fit for the 2014 Dodge CV Tradesman, is the Yakima Q Tower Roof Rack. To order this roof rack you will need part # Y00409, part # Y00657, and part # Y00124. I have attached an installation video for this roof rack you can check out. The vehicle may be different but the installation would be similar.
The roof rack you referenced is not a fit for the 2014 Tradesman.

The ability to carry a canoe and a kayak on the roof of a 2008 Honda Odyssey is going to depend on two factors. It will depend on the weight capacity of the roof and the size of the canoe and kayak.
Most aftermarket roof racks, like the Yakima Q Tower or RailGrab Roof Racks for the Honda Odyssey have a weight capacity ranging from 150 lbs to 165 lbs, however the weight capacity of the vehicle roof is typically lower. I recommend checking your owners manual to verify the actual weight view full answer...
You definitely have a lot of options that are substantially less than what your husband was quoted to have a quality roof rack for your 2013 Kia Soul with a naked roof.
The first roof rack system I would recommend would be the Thule Square Load Bar System # THLB50. These square bars can hold just about any roof top accessory on the market and are made in the USA, and are constructed of galvanized steel. I have attached a brief video of this system on a 2013 Kia Soul.

It looks like you have a 2011 Toyota Prius with the Yakima roof rack that consists of # Y00409, # Y00699, # Y00605, and # Y00124.
For a smaller cargo box that would fit this rack I would recommend the Thule Force part # TH624. I attached a review video that shows this box being demoed on a similar Prius as yours. view full answer...
We have not installed a Yakima roof rack on a 2004 Ford Mustang, but Yakima has. I included a pictured showing the rack installed. Bascially what will happen is that when the clips and feet are properly tightened down the clips will pull up and out of the way of glass window.
The parts needed to install a Yakima roof rack are:
Crossbars # Y00409
Q56 Clips, # Y00656
Q50 Clips, # Y00650
Q Towers, # Y00124
And if you wanted more space between the crossbars use the stretch kit # Y00134. view full answer...

Yes, you can use the Yakima Q Towers Roof Rack Feet for Naked Roof (QTY 4), # Y00124, on top of your 2010 Jayco pop up camper. First, you will need Bolt-On TopLoader Mounting Brackets for Yakima 1A Raingutter Towers, Q Towers, # Y08005, so you can mount the towers. These are sold in pairs so you will need two sets to install all four towers.
You would then just need to add load bars depending on how wide your camper is. I have included a link to our Yakima load bar main page below. view full answer...
The roof rack I recommend for your 2008 Ford Ranger XLT 2-Door Supercab is the Yakima system consisting of parts # Y00409, # Y00625, # Y00124 and # Y00134. This kit includes 58-inch round crossbars, Q-Towers, Q-25 Clips and the stretch kit to allow wider placement of the crossbars to help fit larger loads. Also, the round crossbars included in this rack offer the widest possible compatibility with accessory items.

The racks available for your 2004 Beetle have been tested on the actual vehicle they are made for. That is how the companies determine that they will fit.
Everything you will need to install a roof rack on your 2002 V-dub New Beetle is included in the Yakima complete roof rack system (itemized below). You would then be able to add a kayak carrier like the Yakima HullRaiser J-Style Roof Mounted Kayak Carrier, # Y04039.

To install tracks in the grooves on the roof of your Windstar you will have to have a custom installation done. I checked with my contacts at Thule and Yakima and they do not offer a custom fit track for your vehicle at this time.
Yakima has a system, if your 2002 Windstar has the dual sliding doors, that will provide crossbars for carrying cargo or bikes on the top of the vehicle. To install this system you will need 3 parts.

If the feet that you are referring to are the feet of a roof rack, then they may be compatible with your 2012 Honda CR-V, but it will depend on the brand of the feet.
If the roof rack feet that you have are the Yakima Q Tower feet like part # Y00124, then yes, you can use those on your CR-V. To complete the roof rack, you will also need two round crossbars, # Y00409, and the Q99 Q Clips, # Y00699 (QTY 2).

We do sell the roof rack components for the Yakima system that will fit your 2008 Honda Accord with a naked roof. Just for information this system is designed to use crossbars that are 58 inches long.

I do have a solution for you but none of the Yakima kayak carriers will work with the roof rack on your 2010 Chevy Camaro. Great first experience dealing with you guys! Shipped fast, and was a faster install. You gave me the right parts and it went together in a flash.
Will definitely be doing business with you all again.
Free delivery that showed up in 3 days!!! Can't beat it. The crossbars with the Control Towers and LandingPad 9 fit perfectly on my Honda Element. Had them installed in about 30 mins. Don't have my cargo box yet and wanted to test strength, so I had my 110lb wife standing on them with no issues (yes, the car was parked). Plan to take a long camping trip next week with a cargo box on top...wife will be in the vehicle:-)
Do you have a video to see how it looks while you install that rail track roof device.

The only reason I am not giving it an excellent rating is the considerable wind noise that occurs. While we had our luggage carrier atop our car it seemingly imperceptible, however after driving around for a week while on vacation with simply the bars breaking the wind it was quite loud. With that being said they were a breeze to install, aside from having to use allen tool tighten down the fittings. I later discovered that a wratcheting screwdriver with the correct bit size provided for much faster installation and removal. I would definitely recommend for purchase.

A great company to do business with, and lots of merchandise in stock. I orderd a roof rack for my truck on Tuesday morning and it was on the porch when I returned from work on Thursday. I will deffinitely order more from etrailer.com
I ordered the Yakima Roof System for my Honda Element. I had amazingly fast delivery. Product exactly as advertised and the cost was lower than most other dealers. etrailer went the extra mile to get me my order as fast as possible (I didn't ask for quick delivery they just went ahead and took the initiative) and kept me well informed about its progress. I'd do business with them again in a heartbeat.

Etrailer is great with price and service. They upgraded my shipping for free and they are excellent with follow up emails to make sure I'm satisfied. As for the product, I am surprised with the amount of wind noise with the round Yakima bars. I previously had Barrecrafters on my Land Cruiser and didn't notice noise with them. If I knew before I would have upgraded to one of the Aero bars.

everything was great, got a day earlier than expected, fit fine, not to hard to install, I would recommend a helper the first time you are trying to get all the adjustments correct, 3 hands are needed at times. I worry a little about the rubber rain seal not working properly, has not been rained on yet. Using it to haul a kayak. Great price compared to local truck accessory store.

We ordered the Yakima RailGrab Towers and Cross Bar set for our Taurus X to hold 2 kayaks and it was perfect! The instructions were clear, even added some humor which was welcome. They were shipped with the exact timeframe promised which was good as we needed them before our Memorial Day camping trip. Thank you. We will recommend to others.

Roof rack kit worked perfectly. I tried to find out what kit I needed from the Yakima website but their fit my car function would not load. I was relieved to see that etrailer had their own kit to fit my car. I didn't have to worry that I ordered incompatible parts. Installation took less than an hour and the rack works great.
Just follow the directions and everything will workout. Took me 35 to 40 minutes but I thought I knew what I was doing without directions. Follow the measurements for our vehicle and it works perfect, just remember to order the air deflector to eliminate the wind noise. Always great service and delivery was very fast.

Clear concise instructions, easy to follow. Installed onto my 2004 Honda Pilot. No hiccups; the hardest part was reading my old tape measure in order to get things fasten down symmetrically. I highly recommend this product. Thank you Yakima and thank you etrailer.
etrailer shipped my order very quickly and the product arrived in condition. The system was relatively easy to install. You must take your time and measure multiple times for correct placement and tightening.
I ordered the Yakima base rack system for my 2011 Mazda CX-7, and it arrived in a timely manner and the product fit perfect and is top notch quality as always with Yakima. Thanks Yakima and etrailer.com
Was very pleased with the Yakima racks and installation was a snap! First time customer of etrailer and was elated with whole experience! Shipping was lighting fast too!!! Will do business again...

Nice strong bars. These bars are great and worth the price. I put them on my 2004 Tahoe and they look good. Very easy to install. I would recommend to anyone looking for heavy duty crossbars.

The product came fast and as promised. The roof rack went together fairly smoothly. You can definitely hear the wind resistance from the rack, and the bars are a lot heavier than I expected.

all put together and installed. had to adjust measurements a little to fit my cargo carrier. if it doesn't fly off on our way back to washington i'll be happy.
Received the product with everything intact. Instructions were easy to understand and took little time to assemble.
Soild product, I'll let you know how solid after my trip:)
Rails installed easily and without an issue! Shipping was supposed to take 3-7 days but arrived in <2 days.
For after market cargo add-ons, I won't go anywhere else!

When I bought the rack, I didn't realize that it was easily removable. This is exactly what I need to carry my Pirogue around on my Element.

The service at Etrailer was excellent and the product I ordered was top quality. Very satisfied.
The bars have not changed much over the years, but don't really need to.
Fit my Ford Freestyle, easy install, fast safe delivery. Quality product.
