The Traverse towers - or feet - hold the bars to the vehicle more securely than other racks by implementing Thule's patented MaxClamp technology. The towers are tightened to the vehicle using the integrated AcuTight tensioning tool. Today, on this 2010 Toyota Camry, we are going to do a test fit of a Thule Traverse roof rack. Well be using Thule Traverse foot pack and a 50-inch Thule square low bars. We have our low bars pre-assembled according to the instructions, so Ill mount them up onto the vehicle and test them out. Well start off with the doors open and place the front low bar onto the roof. To properly position the bar, well measure from the trim edge of the wind shield to the leading edge of the foot pack. Always go by the instructions, in this case we will use the measurement of 9 inches.
Alright, our front bar is in position, lets go ahead and do the same with the back bar. To place the back row properly, well measure 26 and inches from the center of the front bar to the center of the rear bar. Put the bars in the proper position, we can go ahead and begin clamping them down to the roof line. Well take out the slack evenly on both sides and then tie them down using the included torque tool. When you finished tightening all the foot pack inaudible tool beside the foot pack for storage.
With the low bars installed, well go ahead and give you a measurement of the additional height those added to the vehicle. From the outside part of the foot pack to the top of the bars, were looking at 5 and inches. And with that set up, were finished with the test fit of our Thule Traverse roof rack on our 2010 Toyota Camry.
