Video Transcript for Rhino-Rack Aero Roof Rack Installation - 2010 Honda Accord Coupe

Today we are going to show you a complete Rhino roof rack for a 2010 Honda Accord Coupe. We will be using clamp kit part number DK151 and a crossbar and foot kit, part number DA126.The first step is some small assembly on the feet. Locate the M6 by 25 millimeter security screw, the spring washer and the flat washer, as well as the M6 flat nut. Take the M6 screw, slide on the spring washer and the flat washer. Com back to the foot and slide it up through the hole so that the threads are sticking out of the top of the foot. Loosely thread the M6 square nut on the top. This is going to be hole the foot attaches to the crossbar. Locate the M8 by 50 millimeter security bolt and the M8 pivot nut. On the back side of the foot, push the pivot nut into position and make sure the angled face faces outward. Back on the front side, again we are just going to hand thread the M8 security bolt. Repeat this assembly process for the other three feet. 1:05

Next, locate the plastic foot plates and the rubber plate pads. All you have to do is press them together. There is a center post here to help you line up with the foot plate, as well as little rubber snaps that are going to fit in to the bottom of the foot plate. Just firmly press in and you will feel it when they seat properly. And again, repeat this same process for the other foot plates. Pay attention to the arrow on the foot plate. Later we will use this to indicate which way the plate should be facing when we go to install the roof rack on to the car. They just easily snap on to the bottom of the feet for the roof rack. Again repeat the same process for the other three foot pad assemblies and roof rack feet. Once you have your four foot assemblies all together, we can go ahead and begin installing them to the crossbars. Flip the crossbar over on the bottom and you will see a slot along the ends. This is where the feet are going to clamp into the crossbar. Rhino-Rack provides measurement strips. What we are going to do is cut these to size and then them into the track for the feet. That way we can get the proper positioning of the foot. Once you have the measurement strips cut to length, we can go ahead and them into the track on the bottom of the crossbar. Make sure you have the measurement strip butted against the end of the grove. We will butt the feet up to the other end of the measurement strip. For this particular vehicle, the measurement strips for the front need to be cut to 71 millimeters. And the rear crossbar measurement strips need to be cut to 84 millimeters. 2:30

Once you have the measurement strips in place, we can slide our feet on to the bottom of the crossbar. Slide the foot all of the way against the measurement strip and take the included Allan wrench and lock the foot down. Repeat this same process for the other three feet. Take the remainder of your measurement strips and slide them in to the gap at the end of the crossbar and cut them to fit. Once you have the ends of the crossbar covered up with the measurement strips, we will go ahead and flip it over and install the rubber stripping on to the top track. To install the weather stripping, all you have to do is push it into the track. With the rubber stripping in place, we can install the caps on the ends of the crossbars. Open up the little door on the top of the crossbar, push it in to place on the crossbar and close the cap. Now that we have the crossbars assembled, we are going to put indicator stickers on the inside of the foot. That way we can keep track of which crossbar goes where. Once we have the crossbar assemblies complete, we are going to lay them on top of the roof of the car and set our positioning. We will check the DK measurement sheet, included with the kit, and get the crossbars lined up and set in position. 3:44

For the front crossbar, measure from the gap where the door closes to the center line of the crossbar. One this particular vehicle, we need to be at 22-7/16 inches. Once you have the front crossbar in position, we will use that to get the spacing measurement between the crossbars. We need to measure 24-39/64 inches from the center of the front crossbar to the center of the rear. Included with the rack are arrow indicator stickers that you can place inside of the door jam and line them up with the arrow on the foot pack. That way if you remove the rack, you can easily get it back in position when you go to reinstall it. With the crossbars in position, we can go ahead and install the clamps that attach to the vehicle and clamp on to the foot. Pull the bolt that we had installed finger tight previously and remove the bolt. Feed it through the opening on the clamp. Start to tighten it down with your fingers. The underside of the clamp has a rubber pad to protect the vehicle surface. And we are not going to lock these down tight yet. We are just going to get them good and snug in case we have to adjust our positioning later. 4:57

On this particular vehicle, we do not have a rear door or rear opening window. So what we need to do is pull back the weather stripping. And we are going to slide the clamp in and wiggle it down until we get it to line up with our foot. To make sliding the clamp inside the weather stripping easier, you could use a little bit of a soapy water solution to act as a lubricant to help things slide into place. We are also going to use a screw driver to help us hold back the weather stripping to get the clamp started. And now that we have the crossbars clamped on, all we need to do is attach the covers to the feet. Line up the tabs on the door cover with the slots on the feet. Push it close. And with the included key, lock the foot cover on. And we will repeat the same process for the other feet. Now that we have all of the front covers in place, we are finished with our installation of the Rhino-Rack part number DK151 and of part number DA126.
